I started a thread a month or so ago called "after 15 years I am finally doing it....dream reef" it is located Here

Today, I got the stand so we are now ready to get going full speed ahead.

I am starting this thread to update what is going on, starting with a picture of the stand and a list of the "final" details, to kind of streamline the thread. Here are a list of the basic's:

(1) 850 gallon glass tank (120x48x32)
(2) center overflow 360 degree viewable space
(3) custom built stand with no center "vertical braces" remember is 360 degree viewable so all equipment needs to be in stand/hood.
(4) custom hood built to hold 200 gal. refugium and the surge tanks.
(5) 2 32 gallon surge tanks
(6) 2 barracudas (closed and open)
(7) 8 way OM
(8) 2 big *** euro reefs??
(9) 4 30 gallon species tanks picture framed in to stand
(10) Pond stlye sump custom fit under species tanks
(11) Soild sand bed (cemented together) This is still a maybe?
(12) Super large unique live rock peices (they were special ordered from tonga) Pics soon!

I am sure I have forgot several things but this is the basic list for now. Here is a picture of the stand, notice the "windows" for the species tanks.

Just a couple of quick questions.

Why ERs? Go with a large deltec, h&s, or a large beckett? Don't skimp, man! :)

I got my LR from www.reefermadness.us (all show pieces - and they were huge!!) Mixture of show fiji, tonga branch, kaelini

You're doing a carlson surge?

A few questions, since you're short on pictures. ;)

How do you plan on accessing the species tanks? The stand appears to be roughly three feet tall, so the gap above the frames must not be more than 6-8" wide? And of course, what are you planning on keeping in these tanks? Now that I look more closely, there do appear to be some fairly large openings on the sides...

The hood design will certainly be unique, 200 gallons of water is a lot to hold 5'+ off the ground.

Cheers,
Marty

I have always liked Euro reefs..I guess I am behind the times?...Someone enlighten me please, I would love to read up some on these "others".

I got the live rock covered, the peices are huge, They had to build special boxes just to ship it.

It won't be a carlson...to many bubbles, I am doing a electric ball valve relay/system. I will post some pics as I go, But they will feed some large glass "troughs" that are built into the top of the tank, so the surge is as wide as the tank....Make sense?

Stand is 41 inchs tall, There will be doors above each one, for species tank stock list see my sig :D. I did not get the "end" picture loaded until after your reply so now you can see the end (and the tank if you look close).

The hood will actually be suspended from the celing with aircraft cable (yes it is designed to hold it) The hood will be a work of art no doubt...Pics in a few days.

I guess I deleted the first set in the first post..Sorry This is what happens when you let a moron run the computer :D
