Dremel advice?

Got a Dremel 3000 for Christmas and I'm planning on putting it to use in the next couple days.
Does anyone have any advice to offer me?
What type of bits should I use for cutting SPS? LPS? or rock?
Do aftermarket bits work well, or should I stick with Dremel's?

I have never used a Dremel for fragging but I do work in the tools dept at Menards (big box hardware store in the Midwest). Most brands of rotary bits are compatible with Dremel. Just read the back of the package and it will tell you if it is compatible. I don't know if a bit or a wheel would work better. If your getting a wheel, get a diamond wheel. If your getting a bit I would say use a carbide bit which is for cutting tile and other very hard surfaces. The bit will be a little pricier than a wood or metal bit but it will last much longer. Hope this helps.

What types of corals do you plan on fragging? I've used dremmels with the diamond wheel bit to frag zoa off rocks or frag plugs.
Also I've tried fragging acans and favias before with the dremmel, but that didn't work very well. The bit would get hot and kill the coral half the time.

I use a dremmel for fragging lots of stuf. Go to lowes and get the larger diameter diamond cut of wheel. They have two sizes I recommend the larger so you can cut deeper if needed.

Anything and everything, mostly Zoos and SPS though.

I use Dremel with 40 mm (aprox. 1½") diamond wheel and I love it. I got the diamond wheels on ebay, $3-4 for a package of 10.

I bought a 5 pack of diamond wheel bits on amazon for super cheap and they work really well. A general search should find what you need.
