Drilling a tank in Akron Area

Anyone in the area willing to drill my 30 gallon? I don't have a drill or the drill bit, and I don't want to drive up to Vermillion or Amherest to get it done.

I'm not to worried if it breaks, I'm just trying to experiment with a smaller tank before moving onto larger tanks.

Or better yet, anyone going to the frag swap that would like to bring there drill and bit to do it there? Not sure if we would be allowed to it but just a thought.

O well...let me know and thanks ahead of time

Do you need a special bit? and how big of a hole?

i have no clue in hell what im doing but im always the guy that gets called when holes must be drilled in large beams for network cable lol

Drilling glass isn't the easiest thing to do. You need a 2" diamond bit for the hole you need drilled

I have a cordless drill and a 45 mm (for a 1" bulkhead) that I could bring if you wanted to attempt it. I have drilled my tanks here. 4 holes in 5/8" glass and about 4 more in 1/4" and 1/8". We could do a quick demo at the meeting if anyone cares to learn it and hopefully don't show everyone how to BREAK a tank.

Gotta love DIY projects :)

If you are going for a 1" bulkhead I can do it for you for nothing.

Any larger and I don't have the holesaw.

What size bulkhead works with a 2" hole?
Thanks, Tim

just be carefull about schedule 80 vs. schedule 40

there can be some significant differences

Have your bulkhead before you drill

Well I've got the saws ordered so I'll match bulkheads to them. Actually I've cut some holes with my Dremel so I do know the sizes will work. Thanks for the tip though!!!
