drive shaft bearing problem, again

Hi,

I have had 2 wet-sides "seize up" on me so far in less than a year. When I sent in the last one for repair in May I had an extra (bearing or Driveshaft?) sent to me since my back-up wetside was starting to slow and look like it was seizing.

Well that is still the situation (and the one repaired in May seems to be slowing and starting to bind again). I tried to install the bearing/driveshaft to the backup but do not get even close to a free spinning unit like it should be (is the greyish ring supossed to move freely on the dark grey part? It doesn't. Looking more closely it seems like just sitting sround in my fishroom it swelled and binded up). I emailled to ecotechmarineservice@gmail.com the day before yesterday requesting instructions or directions on how to properly install it but recieved no response.

So, here I am in the public forum now requesting assistance on how to repair my back up unit since I am thinking it is just a matter of time bofore this other one seizes and then I will have little in the way of tank current.

Sorry to bring it here but I tried email already.

Dave was on vacation for the 4th and will be addressing service inquiries as soon as possible. I apologize for the delay.

I answered your questions in the e-mail but I will also post it here on how to insert the bearing.
To insert the bearing first look for the 2 notches or tabs in the frame. Then match those to the 2 slots in the bearing. Carefully insert the bearing making sure the tabs and slots line up perfectly. It should snap in place. Ensure the bearing is fully seated in the frame and perfectly flush with the surface of the wet frame. Then just insert the drive shaft and the remaining hardware. The drive shaft shoult rotate and spin freely within the bearing and frame.

Thanks for the reply (here and via email today) - it doesn't seem that the bearing (light grey) spins freely on the base of the shaft (dark grey) even uninstalled. Is that normal or should it be spinning freely? It's just been sitting in the plastic bag a few weeks. Could it have swelled up?

Thanks again for the other rapid response and sending me the part. Much appreciated :)
