driver got wet/what next

Blew a gasget in my return pump last night and sprayed my driver. Do you this this killed the whole system or can I replace the driver only. Thanks

BTW thanks for the recommended wavebox extension. One on each side of the tank worked like a charm. SPS show better than ever PE.

Cook, you can replace just the driver. Is the pump stop running? I would take the driver out, air dry it and see if you get any luck....

I will try that. Pretty wet though. No good to wake up at 3am with water all over the floor and no return pump. Worse to lose the tunze.

Just take the driver out, carefully use the air compressure to blow as much water out as you possible can, air dry the driver for a day or two then give it a try. While waiting for the driver to dry, you can always order another driver just incase the old one don't work. If it works, you can always use the new driver as a back up.

This is one of the reason why i always recommend tunze user to mount their driver outside the stand. The humidity could be dangerous to your electronic component....

Thanks a lot. I had it monted well away from where I thought water could get. The back of my iwaki sprayed many gal of water all over last night. Must have been a faulty pump.

I have a 4 year old. To make matters worse, he actually woke me up. The tank is on the other side of his bedroom and he heard the sump go dry. He thought it was a monster LOL

You can replace just the driver if it got soaked with saltwater it is unlikely to be recoverable, call me and I will work with you on a replacement. 512-833-7546

open the driver up 4 screws on the side then take off the circuit board and poor some 90proof rubbing alcohol on it and brush it softly with a soft bristle tooth brush and blow it off with an air hose or if you have access to an electronic store buy a circuit board cleaner $5-12 and spray the hell out of the circuit board and blow it off with air hose and if you don’t have access to a compressor the dry it with a hair dryer.

You could wash it out with fresh water, yes you read that right.

Open it up put it in the sink and wash it out.

Then use a hair dryer to get it as dry as possible, wait a couple
of days (if possible set it on a heater register for those days)

Plug it in and try it.

I have washed out a lot of equiptment over the years
that have been in floods, or were just plain filthy.

the fresh water works but if you have alcohol or board cleaner then you are not risking the mineral residue witch will eat trough the board over time.

Cleaning works if the water that got on the driver had a low salt content or the driver had no power but if it had power and was hit by saltwater it is pretty much futile. Basically you get the reverse of electroplating and the conductive copper on the board is destroyed and typically various diodes are lost and it is just a downward spiral from there.
