Drum Roll Please...... 8000 gallon tank build

I haven't read this whole thread (it's 37 pages), but are there any photos of it? I'd love to see a huge tank like this!

So wait... I may have missed this.. But the 8000 is still being built and the smaller tank is temp? LOOKIN GOOD!!! And All haters.. Be jealous of This

Ya been a loose follower of this thread since beginning ..not much here..Last time I saw building a 8k gal. but don't have a camera..

I remember reading a bit of this thread a few years ago before I got out of the hobby for a bit, just read through the ENTIRE thing (yes, all 37 pages.)

All I have to say is, someone definitely put their foot in their mouth... yeah, I'm talking about the guy who said "The Packers suck" back in 2009. :D

I'm not flaming but tbh I like my 100 better than this tank. At least I can see mine! :lmao:

But seriously, the house is beautiful, the poolroom and rockwork are amazing. I am really envious. HOWEVER, I honestly say that I am not at all impressed with the interior of the tank and what's being done with it.

I guess I'm more of a pufferfish, triggerfish, fish with attitude and personality kinda-guy.

You could have the entire back of that tank built up with LR with tons of caves. SO much opportunity there...

Funny how 8k isn't nearly as big a tank as it sounds. It's still got it's limitations like any other.

btw OP, my flame of the interior of your tank is not meant to offend, maybe it will motivate you to finally post some more pictures. It seems you have forgotten all the people who tried to help you. Everyone likes to see a finished product.

I admit that the camera excuse got kind of old. It reminded me of all the times Mark Zuckerberg put off his investors etc with bs excuses. I mean really, who doesn't have a camera in their phone? I call bs. Just say you don't have the time or motivation or whatever. I'm sure you are busy at school. I guess you don't feel that you owe these people anything. It's a shame because we don't get the opportunity to see this kind of project very often. We dream about them all the time however. :wavehand:

Good luck to you.

I too am anxiuos to see progress, but who am I to demand progress... sometimes LIFE gets in the way, or at least changes priorities. I will cut some slack to the OP and his uncle.

I have followed many threads on this and other sites. I have seen 60 gallon builds take a year... sale threads with no pictures... wall systems worth 10s of thousands, and the owner too frugal to go out and buy an ATO... on and on and on.

My point is, that this site is a passive look into each of our world of reefing. I can't imagine what it would be to add an entire addition built around a SW tank that is the size of a bedroom. and make it really nice looking too.

I am not ready to "go home"

-well God forbid the poor bastard was driving to the LFS, got in a wreck and is a parapallegic... boy that would make someone fel bad. hey you never know what life will throw at ya.
- you get all excited to go build that monster tank, end up divorced, lose your kids, pay out the nose in child support, scrape on by till you find out you have colon cancer... yeah that was my dad.

Point taken, and what's more is that it's not even his tank. It's his uncles. Kind of hard to stay so excited about something someone else owns.

I wonder if his uncle really knew what he was getting into longterm or was this mostly Go's idea. I was just mixing 50gallons of water for my weekly change yesterday. Was thinking what it would be like to need 2000-4000gallons every other week. HOLY COW!

the bigger the system, the lower the load-to-water volume is usually. unless you can pack a system this big like people do on picos and nanos. i would guess the water changes are the same % just fewer times. still though, thats a lot of salt to mess with.

If that is the case, I still would have found a way to get some posts up here. People over the net are generous and generally love to give small donations to help out. If he truly went from having everything to having nothing I know I would chip in a couple bucks.

unlike lots of people these days, perhaps he feels its not nescesary to post when he wiped last, like those on facebook. perhaps the person is deceased... i know i would not sit and babble about how woe is me.

thread = dead :thumbdown
