Dsb with sugar sand mix without cloud storms

Hey guys,

Is it possible to stop the sugar sand from blowing everywhere using courser sand mixed in so that it can be used as a deep sand bed?

At the moment the sugar sand is just clouding out every where.

It's possible, alot depends on how your flow is directed.

Have to ask, why a DSB? I ran one years ago, but there was really no advantage (for me).

Mine is pretty old and I remember talking to people. There were some tricks to decrease it when you add but sounds like you are past it. I was told to be patient and will resolve; possibly related to growth of bacteria adding weight as well as fine partials going to refugium and skimmer. Seems like 10 days or so for me. Patient hobby.

It will eventually settle down as it gets a bit of bacterial/algal film attached. I would def point the flow away from it for now, you don't want all the sand grinding away at your new pumps

Good point. I started with no flow for several days and worked up to minimal.
