DSLR video more than a gimmick

There are a few people around who have said video in a DSLR is no more than a marketing gimmick, despite many examples of creative video posted on Vimeo etc...

Apparently the producers of House (on Fox) don't think it's a gimmick. The season finale of the show was shot entirely with Canon 5D II cameras and Canon EF lenses.
