DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Sad all those fish were lost. Maybe get some species that are better suited for the stresses of tank life.

These fishes are from Philippine.
I don't know how they catch the fish or use any kind of cyanide.
Transportation is also the key factor as well.

Today the last one just died this morning.
I think I have to give up on this Anthias. Too hard for me.

I agree... here in Hong Kong, most fish that are from the Philippines are caught using cyanide and don't last long. I also experienced this problem with my old tank.

I think maybe for some of us now it's easier to keep SPS than fish
which is funny because when I started this hobby in 2004 they told me never keep sps it won't survive just keep a yellow tang because it's easy to take care of And recently I killed 12 yellow tang because of fluke less than a week after getting it but the Australian acropora that I thought will died soon after getting it because my tank temp goes up to 82 and don't do water changes that often is now thriving.
Go figure?

Sorry to see those anthias go they are very striking fish and would have been incredible in your aquarium, what symptoms did they have when they died? It does sound like they may have been caught/transported badly.

I thought many places stopped using cyanide since the 80's , we must boycott people who catch fish in this way , it is terrible for the fish,the reef and the hobbyists . I will always pay more for fish caught in a proper net fashion.

Hello ChingChai, I will share your sadness....

I had a group of them too... This species is extremely difficult (Pseudanthias flavoguttatus I believe...?).... even harder than the Ventralis I'd say....

What I did was I kept them with only 3 fish in my 150G (2 clowns and 1 mini blue tang) and I only had my actinics on most of the time during my photo period to simulate the deep water condition... (so they'd come out of of the caves) I fed them only with frozen mysis, brime, and planktons 3 times a day. They ate very well and eventually always show up and swim in open areas in the tank. But they just got skinnier and skinnier everyday as they kept on eating more and more..... by the end of the second month they were added into the tank, only a pair were left.... I guess I was lucky for having them for 2 months, but still... watching them die is just a pain. I guess I will never try on this species again....

I am not the fish expert so don't know what symptoms that caused the death.
The time I saw them at fish shop, they didn't look healthy at all.
But I want to take risk bringing them back instead of letting them die at the shop.
