DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Ching:

I have admired your tank from the beginning. It is truly one of the world's great private reef tanks.

I am interested in your drains. I would like to drain my tank into a separate room on the same level as the display and would run the drain and return pipes under the floor as you have. Have you calculated how many gallons per hour each two inch drain pipe handles? (I know it is a function of the length of the horizontal runs and the number and size of fittings, but I have no idea how to calculate it). I'm sure you have left some head room above the capacity of the return pump -- how many gallons per hour is it pushing back to the tank?

Also, do you have any issues with air being trapped in the pipe? If so, how do you remove it. Finally, are the drains creating a siphon or are they open?

Thanks in advance.

Art. Sorry for late reply.
I didn't calculate for the drain pipe. You don't have to worry about that because the high pressure from the drain pipe to the sump.
And my return pump is adjustable so I can control the water level.
I don't have issue with air being trapped in the pipe.
The drains are open.

Yes, I also look forward to meeting you guys.

I found this tank in reef hobbyist magazine recently. I was shocked and amazed to see such beauty and detailed work put into your system and fish room. Since then I have seen the videos on youtube and have been reading your thread. You have an amazing setup and are truely an inspiration. Thanks for sharing and many blessings and best of luck!

ERivera65. Thank you for your kind words.

hello Chingchai

I have some questions, your using chaeto macroalgae besides this another method you use to reduce phosphates and nitrates?

just when you think the word "amazing" has been used too much, its the only word that is just right

You have knocked it out of the park yet again. So well done, clean lines, sculpted form that is on purpose but still looks natural, amazing.
