DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Ching,
After these tank will be completed(well, almost) i recommend you start something harder.....maybe to keep Betta Splenders in a bowl.....they will be really a challenge to you....;)

Man..are you happy? What are your expectations about these tank ? I´m worriead about you...after these tank become mature...i´m worried about you don´t find any high class chalenge like this.....well, maybe start a 2000 galon in a house across the street....and move everithing yhere again....:)

Jokes apart...i need to tell you that i´m glad to be blessed about found these thread, and proud to say that you´re a long distance online friend...that i gently call 'A Hero"

Yes, I am very happy with this tank.
No plan for future tank yet. Maybe in the next five year, I will think about it.:p

It's good to know so many good friends here.
Hope to meet you guys in person.

Hello Chingchai,

I love your system (just like everyone else ;)).

I was wondering how your parameters are doing with the introduction of all of the livestock in such a short amount of time.

lapja. Thanks.

chingchai,

The first time I read this thread there were only 3 replies! That was a long time ago. I check it every week or so and am absolutely blown away.

At page 57 there I think I just started laughing here at work out loud. Those pictures are amazing. They are absolutely amazing.

Silent no more...

Dave

Dave. Thank you.

Ching,

I think you need, at least, one more pair of islands to accommodate all those nice colonies.

This must be the most youngest matured looking tank I have ever seen in my life. Love the clean look and those big pieces of corals.

If you don´t mind me asking, how are the corals doing in such a recent system? I have noticed your Turbinaria lost some tissue in its first pictures but seems to be recovering nicely. Also, how are the Apogons parvulus doing? Are they eating well? If so, what´s their diet?

Can´t wait to see some bigger fish in there... :)

Regards,
André

Andre. Thanks.
Corals are all doing fine. I just lost one Acropora but because of their poor arrival condition.

Fishes eat everything. Frozen, flake, pellet.

wow, this tank is amazing!
i love the way it looks like its floating with the blue light under it.
i was just wondering, how do you keep your sand bed so white?
also, i was wondering why you went with the tunzes for your main tank and vortechs for the other tanks in your system? why not all vortechs, or all tunzes?

I shift the sand bed once a week.
Tunze for thicker panel.
Vortech for small tank because of its sleek design.

Funny how many people's questions would be answered if they'd just take a few minutes to read the answers to similar questions that Ching so meticulously takes the time to answer....as for a few of them...

He feeds his softy tank oyster eggs.

His parameters have been pretty stable given everything. He posts an update every so often. You figure, with all the equipment he has, including that huge Ca reactor, it won't have much of a problem right now keeping up with everything.

He manually turns over the sand once a week. That's how it stays so white and clean looking.

:)

cloakerpoked. You are the man! Thanks a lot.

Chingchai,

All I can say is wow as I don't have any words to describe what I've just read. And yes I read the entire thread start to finish. Your attention to detail and high level of precision in the build in impeccable. Your planning and the crews that did the build and install, top notch in my book. I can't wait to see more fish go in and watch this tank grow and mature.

I do have one request though, as I'm sure others will be doing the same. Any chance we can get a High Res shot of the tank to use as desktops for our computers?

Regards,

Scott

Scott. Thanks a lot.
Yes, I will take high res shot once I introduce all fishes from my old tank.
Just bought a new camera for this task.:)

Ching, when you say you stir the sand bed do you stir from the bottom of the sand all the way back and front.Do you think this is a good idea. Will this increase nitrates.Planning to do the same on a weekly basis while doing WC.

I didn't stir, just shift the sand bed.

A true masterpiece. Hands down the finest all around reef tank. period. The attention to detail is bar none. Well done, and look forward to its progression.
I honestly don't think reef tanks get more perfect than this.

JRaquatics. Thanks so much.
But there are more perfect tanks than mine, we just didn't see them yet.

Exactly. On one hand it gives me something to aspire to with my setup currently in progress (nowhere near the size, 240 display and roughly 500 total volume). On the other hand, it makes it difficult to find the same love for my reef! My heart has already been taken by this amazing setup! :love1:

Would love to see your built thread.
Can you send me the link? Thanks.
