DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Chingchai,
I would make a personal request for you to continue this phenomenal journey. You have touched so many members of this community with so much value it would be a shame to leave so many loose threads with your extended family. Your unselfish efforts have been very appreciated.

To this day, I recall the elephant visit and saw that as a positive omen. I have brought many friends to the thread with a reaction that is always the same...... Chingchai has achieved the marriage of science and art.

I will need your help as I initiate my own thread. I am calling it "A Canadian reef in the Chingchai style".

So please help a friend and continue the journey!

Peter

Sorry guys.
Been busy for a while.

I will come back and update my tank within this week.

Just want to say thank you to everybody.
I really appreciated what you've done in the last few days.

Let bygones be bygones! :twitch:

Celebrate!

Celebrate!

I for one am celebrating the return of Mr. Chingchai!

I learned an important component of RC software during this process. It is called the "Ignore" feature... ;)

Following along with anticipation.

this is ching chai thread
(for the future so the thread will not be closed again)
if you want to criticized his tank and his ways proved you have a better tank than his and do it on your own thread!

That is the best post of this week: Ching is back again!
His tank and all his equipment, fishes and corals - JUST GREAT!

Spoent the last 2 days reading the whole thread, even the 40 pages befoe the 1st split.
congrats on an exceptional build. I just admire your plannning and how close execution was.
Would be great if you could clarify the following points.

-Choice of location of the tank Work place VS Home where one can enjoy the tank more any advantages to having the tank in the office as you chose?
-Do you find watching the tank from close distance annoying or does it give a feeling of being in the tank and closer fish or corals...
-The total turnaround of the tank wasn't mentioned (Unless I skipped a post which I don't believe is the case) It was mentioned once that you have 64k GPH in poerheads only what is the total flow in the tank including return pumps and waveboxes....
-With a tank in this magnitude shoud one aim for more than 50-60 times turnaround or do you find the flow excessive? did you have to make any modification over the placemement and flow of your pumps of waveboxes? would love to see a video concentration on the flow on individual corals or areas in the tank especially water surface.
-How about PAR in your tank did you ever measure it? do you think that with so many 400 W lights you could grow SPS on the sandbed?
-I do admire how everything installed was the best quality and that you had so much help but one thing that IMHO took away from this thread is that corals were just there all of a sudden, wish you just posted pics of corals being added or positioning decisions....and changes you had to make.... individual shots of SPS added and follow up shots every 2-3 months (this will be time consuming) would be great as it'll be really nice to compare coral growth in such a huge tank compared to regular sized tanks as I remember reading some conflicting info abot corals growing much faster in larger tanks just because of bigger water volume and increased stability...
Love the Online Camera and I believe I saw you adding fish few hours ago???
would love to visit your country and tank one day, and maybe introduce you to Lebanese wine which ain't really famous although we have some really nice selections...
Can't wait to see your tank after your corals grow a bit more.

Words are useless if I want describes your tank absolutely outstanding I admired all what you did are unbelievable but please I need to ask you two questions
1- how did you glue your corals is it with epoxy and if you do what kind of it
2-what do you feed + additives your corals because they look so healthy and growing

wely. Thank you.
1. I use "Two Little Fishies' AquaStikâ„¢ Underwater Epoxy Putty".

2. I feed DT's Oyster Egg and Phytoplankton.

But those are just supplement. You may not have to feed it.
What will make coral grow and be healthy are:
- quality of water
- lighting
- water movement

maroun.c. Thanks for your kind words.
1. I don't have much choice. This is the best place to set up the tank.
2. Same as first question. If I have more money, I will definitely buy a bigger house so I can have more space to watch the tank.
3+4. I will let you know later. But it is more than enough.
5. I never measure par level. But I presume light is enough.
6. So far all corals are doing fine. They do show some growth. I will definitely take pictures of growth sequence.
Yes, bigger tank means more stable, more growth.

You are welcome to see my tank.
I'd love to try Lebanese wine as well.:o
