DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Ching, I'm sorry if you have already answered this, but what are those curleycue type corals (if they are corals). They seem to get longer and longer each time you post new pictures. Are they some sort of seawhip?

When they get too long, are they easily fragged and restarted again?

I have never seen anything like them available here. Were they a special order for you, or are they common at your LFS?

Thx for your time,

Dave.M

It is called " Spiral sea fan ".
They are some sort of seawhip.
In my tank, they are not growing yet.
I just added more of them.
IMO, it is not easy to keep.

Yes, I have to make special order of this from Indonesia.

Paul. Thank you for your help.
Mine does not grow yet.
Any tip would be appreciated.

Mine grows from the tip and doesn't seem to "curl" around like the bottom half does. Did you know that if you spray brine or mysis shrimps on them ... the extended polyps will grab the food but make sure it's the smaller pieces though.

BTW ... your colonies are way, way bigger than my small 2.5" to 3" pieces ... :(

Paul

Variansyn. Thank you for your kind words.
It definitely is not the brain. I better want to call it " Obsession ".
Nothing change yet from the last FTS.

One good excuse I can recommend you to persuade your lady is:
What would you prefer my dear?
Playing golf all day or spending all the time at home for fish tank

Or you can do what I did and bring the golf home............

Watch out for the dogleg left at the end. There's a nasty green opposite the aquarium!!!!

Chingchai, impressive video of your tank. As I expected, the gems are looking fine. I hope the same will apply to your achilles tangs, I really hope they will do well together long term.

Do they leave each other alone?

This summer we'll either go to Indonesia or to Vietnam. If it turns out to be Vietnam, we'll definitely make a stop in Bangkok to visit you and your beautiful tank!

I believe you are talking about Cirrhipathes spiralis, which is actually a black coral not a gorgonian (so the name pig tail gorg is incorrect even though it may be a popular common name in some areas). They are not easily fragged because the chitin skeleton is extremely hard, it is popular among jewelers. They are regularly available in the US now. Most are maricultured.

Chingchai, I trust you are away from most of the excitement?? I am concerned with the escalation we are seeing in the news reports. Tell me I shouldn't be concerned.

Peter. Thanks a lot for your concern.
I am doing fine.
The situation is almost at peak point.
I expect it will be settled this weekend. In a peaceful way, I hope.

Tanne. Thanks.
Gems stay seperately.
But Achilles love to swim together.

Let me know if you can make it to Bangkok.
