DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

chingchai, in the subject of your overflow as mentioned above, how is it designed?

To me it just looks like there are strainers just below the water lever, and the water drains through them, down a 90 deg. fitting and then drains down to the floor, then back up to the sump, located to the right of your tank, correct?

Yes, it is correct.

Ching, you have run the tunze wave boxes now for a while. If you had to do over would you still buy them over say another wave generating device. At MACNA there was a pretty cool demo of a staning wave generated by opposing power heads (dc) Being oft set they seemed to be able to create a wave that went both along the lenght of the tank but also side to side.

I am not sure I like the look but do like the power to pull so much gunk out and back into the water column where it can get into filtration

I am very curious as to your thoughs on this

You are talking about Vortech. Right?
If so, they don't have the version that can be mounted on the 2" panel.
Maybe in the future, they should have it and I am willing to try it on.

Is webcam still working, ChingChai? I tried but there is blank page.
Thanks
Yes, it is still working.
But it is compatible on IE and Avant. Not on Firefox.

Hey ChingChai,

I have to admit I'm too lazy to go flip through the previous pages ... I'm seeing all the flows are being projected upwards or straight ahead ... now I'm curious if you have any flow being directed to the bottom sandbed at all?

Or I'm "assuming" the flows towards the (inner) front glass panels are sufficient enough to indirectly "push" the flows downward to the bottom?

Thx,
Paul

Hi Ching,

How come your sand doesn't look white and smooth like it did a year ago? Does all sand end up losing it's whiteness?

so in regards to the drain pipes you have pvc bulkheads w strainers on them going to the sump? do you feel like you get enough surface skimming??
corey

Ecotech has an adapter box that goes in the tank so you can use the MP60 with thick glass or acrylic. Andy Tripa ordered one at MACNA.

Sorry I don't know the exact company.
But you can check on the sponsor forum here.

ching,

a friend of mine in singapore has leng sy monti cap for sale.

Highly unlikely.

The Leng Sy capricornis strain has been extinct for many years and no posters in reefcentral or in any other prominent reefing forums have reported sightings of this fabulous coral.

That friend of yours is keeping a monti cap that resembles a Leng Sy cap but I highly doubt it has the insane coloration that the real one has.
