DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

hard work Chingchai , i hope you succeed it is very difficult to eliminate them if any fragments remain they will regenerate, if that happens i would say your best solution is to put all the lps corals in the refugium and introduce a butterfly fish that will eat majanos but not sps and then you can remove it by trapping it when you are satisfied they are eliminated from the tank and put the lps back , it would certainly be less work than this if this doesnt work but lets hope it does!!

Shawn. Thank you for your comments.
I know I can't get rid of all of them. Maybe around 70-80%.
And they will come back sooner or later.
I do promise to myself and also tell my fish guy to kill the new-born Manjano asap.

This time I got a big lesson as to let them grow too many and finally out of control.
I will not let it happen again.

chingchai,

I know you indicated earlier that you did not plan on using a laser, but I believe it could/would be a very useful tool. I've been doing extensive testing with extremely good results.

There is a great deal of data in including videos in the advanced topics area. While the early part of the thread is mostly debate on the use of lasers, the latter part contains video demonstrations and results....

Use of Lasers in Controlling Pest Algae and Corals

There are safety requirements (especially appropriate eye protection), but they are relatively easily managed and the laser delivers 100% kill rates in Aiptasia and Majano in seconds - even from outside of running tank.

Tom. Thanks so much for the link.
I will take a look at this thread.

Starting to look like a real tank again

In my previous post I meant to add the BF just to check any leftover majano's, 'just to be sure'. I think you made a wise decision to remove as many majano's by hand.

I hope your tank will be as beautiful (or even better) as before soon.

This thread has taken me nearly 2 weeks to go through. What an incredible journey! You have done some amazing things with your system and I am in awe of your accomplishments!

Congratulations and thank you for sharing your journey with us!

Tanne. Thank you for your encouragement.
I will try my best to make the tank look nice.

Ziggy953. Thank you for following my thread and your kind words.
The journey will go on.

Sir how about matted filefish

Here is one from our local forum
Majano Anemones Eating Matted Filefish
Had him in a 135 gallon fixed reef (clam, SPS, LPS, zoas.. etc) for 4 months to control my majano outbreak. Thus far, I have not seen him bother any of my corals. My tank is now free of majanos and his task is done.

He eats brine, mysis, and other frozen food.

First $15.00 take it.

No wounder you had to rest up before you started one hell of a tough job. You are a true inspiration taking care of what needs to be done. I am interested in how you think the Majanos got in your tank? Had you added more live rock lately or have they been in the tank for a long while and only now became a problem?
thanks for all you do your a true gentleman.

what a bummer man to hear about your current situation...the only good thing about this situations is that they give you a chance to change all the things that you wouldnt normaly have a chance to change

Lawrence. Thanks.
I will ask my LFS whether they can find this fish for me.

canyousee. Thank you for your kind words.
So you are living in the Grape area. I've been there once.
Manjano did come from my old tank. It is my fault that I don't take seriously to get rid of them.
This will be another bad lesson for me.

Today I spent 5 hours in the tank.
Getting wet, scratches myself, burn my back and sweating.
But I can still hum the song.
Man. I love this hobby so much!

Adding one of my favorite coral: Montipora setosa
