Why would you need to treat the fiberglass rock? Is it to get any of the left over chemicals out? Or is it to get the new rock in the same chemical balance as the system? Two weeks in fresh water and six weeks in seawater.
Chingchai,
Is it safe to leave everything outside like that? Do you have any safety precaution to avoid anyone from "adding unknown liquid substance" into the reservoir tank while you're in the process of cleansing and seeding the new rocks?
Time for the daily newbie question! :wildone:
Why would you need to treat the fiberglass rock? Is it to get any of the left over chemicals out? Or is it to get the new rock in the same chemical balance as the system?
Fred, Bill, Frank, Sam, Susie, Ann
I believe that is all of them.
Sorry Ching Chai, its early here and been dealing with a sick dog but had to run with it.

Hey Chingchai,
I was reading through your whole project the last few weeks and I was bombed with impressions on how a human being is able to create something like this tank.
No I finally reached the end of this thread and I was sad to read that you face so many problems during the past months with your private life and the tank.
I know how you feel, since the last 12 month have also been a big challenge for me and became a very difficult and sad time when my fiancée moved out of my flat. She brought me to that hobby over 2 years ago.
Although I have 2 freshwater tanks (1 tank, 1 cube) I lost the motivation and I just neglect my tanks...everything seemed so unimportant anymore, but as you, I was simply not able to break them down and quit this hobby.
Now, about 7 weeks ago, I felt that there is something again and my interest grew bigger and bigger. So I collected more and more information on starting a sea water tank / cube and now everything is currently starting since almost 4 weeks. Tomorrow I will get my first corals.
What I want to say is, never let yourself down. Behave like the sun flower and always turn your head towards the sun!
Best wishes
Can you guys name all the fishes?

Hi chingchai,
thank you very much for your welcome and your wishes. I promise the fresh water tank will be a charm after some aquascaping trainingThe world champion is coming to my area and is showing some tricks next week, so lets see if I can make some snapshots.
You as an expert in sea tank management, can of course answer my simple questions I have to avoid any issues.
I read that you use epoxy and tongs to place your corals on the reef.
So I dont know how it is in your area, but here in Germany you only get little corals on those ugly round, unnatural looking stones which you pretty much cant place anywhere that it looks natural. So I heard and read that many people use tongs or some cutter to modify the stone to a more natural looking style. Are you doing the same? Due to the amount of corals etc. you cannot see how the corals or stones are connected to your actual reef. Is there any possibillity to see how you do that or can you make any picture?
Do you simply put some epoxy under the stone and connect it or do you also try to plug the stones into some gabs etc? Do you put some epoxy around the stone as well so it will have a flueless transition to the reef stone?
Thanks for answering my first questionSecond will follow
