Just posted a few updated photos. My photography skills stink.

Updates to the system - I cured the ich outbreak in the right side tank by leaving it fallow for 11 weeks. My fish have been back in the tank for 4 weeks now, and no further outbreaks. Fortunately I didn't lose any fish.

Coral growth in both tanks is nothing short of amazing. I am getting some good coloration in my LPS and zoos, but sometimes it takes a little trial and error when introducing new corals to avoid bleaching. Some of my GSP's are browning out. They're growing and appear happy, but are losing their green coloration.

I unfortunately lost both my green carpet anemones. They decided to go on a walk about, and my vortech's ate them. I also lost both my squamosa and maxima clams in the left tank, both were growing and doing well, and then one day just died.

My algae problems seem to be tapering off. I bought a rabbitfish and a purple tang for the eft tank, and they're tucking into the remaining bubble algae. My sailfin and PBT in the right tank have almost wiped out the remaining hair algae.

Things are developing nicely.

Great Tanks. I have decided to go with the 250DD and Monterey Stand. How do you like the stand, I had 1st intended to build a metal frame and then make an exotic elegant stand for it, but the price is right for the stand. Is the stand made out of strong quality wood? and can you take pictures of the side access for the stand?

Thank you for the feedback. You reminded me that I need to post some updated photographs. I am very happy with the stands, although I wish they were at least 6 inches taller. I believe they are constructed mostly from plywood. They are extremely sturdy, and seem to have held up well to salt spray and minor spills.

I wish I could provide pictures of the side access panels, but unfortunately, they way I have the tanks set up, side by side and set back in a corner, I can't access the side panels. So for me, they're mostly non-functional.

If you had your tank against a wall, and set up for three-sides viewing, I can see where the side access panels would be very helpful. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck with your tank.

As a fellow DD tank owner and Monterrey stand user, I can tell you that the stand holds up well to use. I recommend "waterproofing" the bottom but that's with any stand really. I know some DD owners who used the stand but removed the bottom and created an extension of sorts to lift the tank. I didn't do this but sort of wish I had. There is very little vertical room to work with and when you have a large tank, it's tough to find good skimmers that fit plus it makes plumbing more difficult.

I realized that I haven't posted an update in a while. I'll try to post some pictures this weekend.

Outside of routine maintenance, not much has been happening with the display tanks for the last 90 days or so.

Negatives:
A couple of weeks ago, I did lose my two barred rabbitfish (Siganus virgatus) unexpectedly. He was about 4.5", I received him in early September 2013, and he had been QT'd for 8 weeks before being introduced to my DT. When I introduced him to my DT, in 24-48 hours he proceeded to eliminate all the hair and bubble algae. He was eating a high quality vegetable based pellet (Hikari Seaweed Extreme) and was clearly very well fed. I came home from an overnight business trip, and found him dead on the sand. Now that he's gone, I have had some reoccurance of algae, so I'll be replacing him soon.

Interesting story about the Rabbitfish - I originally ordered a Scribbled Rabbitfish (Siganus doliatus) from blue zoo aquatics. Instead, I received a two barred rabbitfish (Siganus virgatus) instead, although didn't realize it until a couple of months later. Not really a big deal, and nothing I could do about it after the fact.

I am also having some trouble with a pump on one of my Skimz 251 skimmers. I own two (2) of these, each one running on one of my DT's. The 251 has two (2) needle wheel pumps each, and one of them decided to cr@p out a few weeks after the warranty expired. The vendor (AquaCave) wasn't helpful with a resolution (even considering I bought two of these at $750 a pop), so I guess I'm stuck buying a replacement for $200.00

Positives:
Coral growth has been amazing. I am very pleased with my ReefBreeders LED's and am happy I made the switch.

The other thing I worked on over the holidays was a restructure of my QT system. When I first set up both tanks, I was adding 5-8 fish every couple of months as they cycled out of quarantine. So I had three (3) 40 G breeders plumbed to a common sump.

That pace has slowed now that both tanks are mostly fully stocked, and I've converted two (2) of the QT tanks to frag tanks, and the other is reserved for breeding. I may try my hand at brotulids or Kaurdern cardinals. I had some luck breeding dwarf seahorses back in the early '80's, and may try to recreate that experience.

I now just have one (1) 40 breeder as my QT.

I will post pictures this weekend.
