+$8.36 in shipping = $38.35 = $13.35 more. Not sure what the "best" customer service will do for something like this. They are going to tell you to contact the manufacturer just like anyone else. If it isn't DOA, which anyone you buy it from will replace it if DOA, it will last pretty much forever anyway. I've had this same one for almost 3 years never had an issue (got it from BRS btw).

There was quite a few on eBay for that price when I bought a few add on ones .. Beware though there are fake ones, a buddy got one that was always reading the same after calibration and never showing lower than 3 tds. Brought it over my place and in comparison to my originals from spectrapure it was close but different. The button, switch and wires had slight differences and of course it not being accurate lol .
