Dues

How about a person/couple must attend a minimum number of meeting before they can become a paying member. And then they must attend a min number in order to renew. I think by doing it this way you will weed out the people who are just trying to get the discount.

As for prorating I agree its only $15. But then again I could see where some might want it prorated.
Or we could have one person in charge of nothing but memberships. This way we dont have to worry about prorating. This person could be in charge of keeping track of who joined when and who need to renew when. Also this person could keep track of how many meeting each person attends and so on. And guess what Michelle said she would do this. People paying by pay-pal can forward a copy of there receipt to her and people paying at meeting will get a receipt. All money paid at meeting would be turned over to the treasurer before the treasurer leave the meeting.

have Michelle get in contact with Jesse (mojo46845) or Lorna and she can work with them on that. I think that is a good idea. Lorna and Jesse are taking care of the money side of the club. Michelle would be working with them on that if they need it.

Thats awsome. Joel is a pretty good guy. He took about 2 hrs of his own time to help me out. 15min loading a tank, 1hr 45min just talking. He has some pretty good saltwater live stock at a good price already. If I had my tank already setup I wouldve bought the blue spotted stingray he had for $80!!

I agree with having to attend a certain amount of meetings before getting a discount card but what about those people that have to work every Saturday? I think if meetings were on other days of the week there would be different faces.

If someone wants to have a meeting on a Sunday, I am fine with that, but I don't see many people being able to make it if the meeting is through out the week. Even if people wanted to have the meetings later on a Saturday that is fine, I just prefer an earlier meeting with my work schedule as it is right now. I work the weekend night shift and have to be clocked in by 7pm.

Yea that's true that there might not be that many people being able to attend during the weekday. I think if the meetings maybe alternated between Saturday and Sunday or even if the times were earlier or later in the day it could help attract more/different people to the meetings.

I would hate to get totally boggled down with specifics, I think we should make it as simple as possible. Make it a flat $15 a year jan through dec. If someone wants to join later in the year then it should be $15 up to June 30 and $10 after June 30. If someone were to join later say after Sept then they are welcome to come to the meetings and join in all the activities but not get the discount unless they WANTEd to pay the dues. I don't think that we should make too many rules about how many meetings etc a person attends as it gets too cumbersome to maintain the records and makes it too rigid. I think we should be very proud of the accomplishments that we have seen, the numbers are growing and if we have a lot of turnover c'est la vie. I do see a few people that repeatedly come out and the number grows each month. I think too many rules etc will turn people off and away.....which defeats our purpose.

True....I would like to attend more meetings though. I know I for one can go to more meetings if they were at a different time or on Sunday. There are other people I know that are on the same boat as me.

It is something we will have to look into for sure. I would also like to take into consideration and discuss the possibility of having it on the same weekend every month if at all possible. I know that has been brought up to me several times in the past.

when the season is busy for me I would not be able to go on sunday. So it does go both ways. I know its stinks that everyone cannot always come to the meetings. As far as having it at the same place. We would have to rent a place or something. I think its kind of nice to the work of fellow reefers in the club. We put a lot of time and even more money into our tanks and I guess its kinda nice to see people's success and failures because we all have had some issues of one kind or another along the way. To see the turnout we had this month at my house I thought was great. We had quite a few show up and I know if we start to get more people than that we will just have to have the meetings at phils house and have Daves wife make the treats. mmmmm. I think anyone who went to his house for november would agree with that. Have a happy holiday everyone and drive safe. Mojo~

Well said Jesse, I agree I vote for Dave's wife to make the goodies for each meeting and he won't have to pay for dues......

I don't have any objection to changing the day to a Sunday occasionally, I guess it is hit and miss either day. Evening meetings would be okay but usually I am bushed after work and hate to go out once I am home also makes for a very long day.

I agree with you Lorna. I h ave class at least 1 or 2 nights a week all this next spring at school ( hopefully my last term...) Most of us have to much throughout the week going on to add a fish meeting on top of it all. Most of the time like I said I have class, or kids sports coming up in a month ( I love wrestleing season), and on the free nights I am working my OT. I think overall the weekends work better, and I am not against switching it up every now and then.

And I don't care who host the meeting as long as Dave's wife makes the treats again. She did a fine job, David's tank was nice to, but the little pigs in a blanket were awesome...LOL
