which brings the question: when this sort of stuff unfolds right in front of you do you intervene or let the critters settle it themselves?

That's an awesome picture!! If I were you, I'd let them be... it's natural

I got $5 on the guy on the right :)

LMAO!I was gonna say the same thing, not about letting em be, but 5$ on the guy on the right, with the mottled brown and blue trunks!!

The only time Id get envolved though is like when I saw one attacking a snail one time.Otherwise, there gonna pick up where they left off when you aint looking anyway.Like he did with my snail my hermit was attacking!

Before I release the results of the fight would you guys like to contact your bookie? lmao!

Yes, In Fact the Hermit on the Right has been declared champ.

I have 3 surgeons in my 200, a Sailfin, a yellow eyed Kole and a regular Yellow Tang. There's a definate pecking order in my system, especially when I forget to ad seaweed for a couple days. When I first got him, the Kole was the smallest and got bullied a lot. His spines were removed when he was caught (but he doesn't know it), probably to keep him from poking holes in the bag during shipping. Anyway, I think the scrapes and scratches are distributed equally amongst the Tangs, and they ALL stay away from the clowns

I don't think I've ever seen two duking it out like that but several times I've seen a larger one try to climb in side the shell of a smaller one. I suppose they may be reinforcing the pecking order? Great Photo by the way!!

Or could they simply be cleaning each other?

Chris
