Dumb Question??

Ok... Maybe it is a dumb question, maybe it isn't...

Where do you all dump your salt water during your weekly water changes?

For the first two years I dumped mine out in the bushes... bushes started to not look so good so I started dumping it under the deck. I'm moving in a couple weeks and I will no longer have a deck to dump the water under. Will the salt water kill the grass in the yard if I pump it out there? Do you all simply dump the water down the drain? Didn't figure metal pipes and salt water would go well together.

Metal shouldn't be used with water for your tank. This is outbound. YOu can dump it down the drains. Chase it with a little fresh water, and it will not damage your pipes.

Salt is a way of killing land. It was an ancient malicious trick, to put salt on farmland. It cannot grow things thereafter.

my water goes down the toilet. I mean think about it, urine is A LOT more corrosive than salt water, and what goes down the toilet more?

Thanks for the info everyone. Although there isn't a bathroom anywhere near my current tank, there will be one just around the corner in the new house. Sounds like the problem isn't a problem after all!

I pour mine down the floor drain in the laundry room. In newer houses, the drain line are going to be pvc anyway, so no worry about corrosion except maybe the floor grate for the drain.

I have read definitely not to pour it on landscaping, at least if it's landscaping you want to keep!
