Duncans gone wild

I bought this colony just a couple of months ago. It had 13 heads.
I'm amazed how these guys flourish. There now must be 4 -7 new heads growing under almost each head.

We bought a Duncan frag recently -- I can't wait until it gets to be more that size. Very nice colony!

Yep they grow faster than GSP's.

Thank goodness they're easier to control... :D

They are/where expensive because you could not get them until recently. The price should/has come down because they grow like weeds.

Well, that is good news. I assume that by next year there will be lots of them for seel, or at least some at a modest price?

I've seen them go for $20 a head... Thats about 1/5 from where they started a year or so ago...

I bought this colony at 22 dollars a head 3 months ago. 13 heads, but now every head has at least 4 new heads below the original. Awsome coral.

you can find deals if you look hard enough! this one was right at about $125....shipped (22 heads initially)

How often do you guys feed yours?

I went on a feeding frenzy, 2x a day!

Within a month I had 8+ new heads popping out of 1 polyp.

Then, within a day, all of the skin peeled off and most of the specimen died. Three small heads are growing back, though!

I did not realize that the demand of the coral skyrocketed and could not get enough calcium and other nutrients from my system (alk dropped too low). I definitely learned my lesson, I got duncan fever

Just a warning for power-feeders!

Wow $125 for 22 heads that is a steal around here. I paid $25 a head, mine started with 5 heads which cost me $125. I need to go to Florida!! :)

so these have to be spot fed right? The LFS here has some big colonies, but he wants like $500 for them......

I don't spot feed mine. However spot feeding is always going to provide faster growth. It gains about two - three new little mouths around the main head every month.

Everyone seems to have the same color morph, mine is the same as well. Does anyone have a different color variety?

There are no other colors. Just green, some pale and washed out while others r bright neon, but thats about it.

MInes yellow with lavender and green center. I feed each head. I sell mine locally for $13 a head. They grow fast

You all are so lucky. My only lfs that has them only sells for almost $120 for three or two heads! And most corals there have something wrong with them.

Another lfs claimed they got theirs from Africa, so it was $400 for four heads, are African ones any different? They seemed alot smaller and a really dark blue.
