Dustins Cube

HAHA....I think It looks like crap...and thats all that matters:D
Im removing alot of the base rock and re-doing once I get the chance...

Got a few things done in the past few days..

Got my water closet up and running...The Brute on the very left is where Im curing 20lbs of Marshall. The ER 5-3 is now in that vat to help that process. The middle vat is my RO/DI tank thats plumbed to a float valve. The right vat is my salt tank. I simply just open the valve in the middle to fill up the salt tank. Mag 7 is used to mix the salt. Both tanks are plumbed w/drains thru the wall to the outside to eliminate my need to shop-vac and dry the rug over and over:D

I got the chiller plumbed in also. Its fed from a Mag 7 in the sump and returning back into the sump near the return pump intake. That way I was sure I would be getting the flow I needed through the chiller. It did get a little complicated in placement of everything as you can see in the pics. My simple (initially) system has gone awry:D

Im planning on making some kind of covers for the sides...especially the left side. Theres alot going on back there.

I removed all the base rock and donated it to the Jude tank. I really had too much rock for what I envisioned anyway. Hopefully these 4 pieces Im curing will do what Im wanting. I dont want to go any higher than half the tank with the highest points on the rock. I want my corals and fish to have as much free room as possible. Updates to come:D

Awesome tank, I remember your 30, big different.

Thx man, Had to move up eventually:D

The extra rock is about cured, so Ill be re-aquascaping here shortly...
I lost 3 Slender Anthias and 2 are MIA...I believe the Chevrons semi-aggression stressed them to not eating after a week. Got 1 more so theres 2 that are doing well. I also added a Red Sea (8-line) Flasher Wrasse to give the Chevron someone to play with other than the Anthias. It seems to have worked...All aggression is gone at this point..

Well, This is where it stands for now (If I can leave things alone). I got quite a few things mounted this time, so maybe everyone can actually see some frags this time:D I did add 8 a few weeks ago.
I also played around with my camera settings a little...LMK if they look better or worse please.

No matter what I did, I just couldnt get my aquascape vision in this tank, Ill leave that for the next tank:D I had either too little room or too much rock(or both).
Its kinda laid out like my last aquascape, but with different rock:rolleyes:
Im content for now, but Im sure something will change;)

I added a Royal flasher...
royalflasherwrasse.jpg

And also a Social Fairy..

These are the 8-line flasher and the Social Fairy going at it, but this was the best I got. It was very cool to watch..but these are very crappy shots of it...like the 2 above these...

boofer, nice to see you finally put something in that tank that has some color to it. It looks great. Cant wait to see whats next.

Nice Wrasses Dustin:)

I had my second 8 line flasher jump out(of a covered tank) a couple of months ago. I love those fish. My first one would flash me whenever I walked through the room at night.

Thx Chris, Im really liking these wrasses. I added the Royal in hopes it would entice the 8-line to flash more. It seems I underestimated the anti-social behavior of the Social wrasse:D Its been the hellion of the bunch. It does its display pretty regularly it seems. Its very pretty and I havnt been able to capture it on a pic yet. Im hoping both the 8-line and the Royal will turn male eventually, so I can see them flash more (especially the color changes). There all juveniles so it will take a bit, Im sure. The 8-line wasnt flashing much before the new additions. How did yours get out, with it being covered? With my euro-bracing and the overflow being covered and the hood, Im hoping I dont have the issue of fish jerky, but you never know.

I didn't have the back of the hood sealed well enough the first time and the second time the fish got out of a much smaller hole. They must have good aim and a sight that adjusts for refraction or something:rolleyes:
The first flasher I owned starting flashing the Christmas tree of all the things. Must have been all the colored lights. From then on he flashed with his dorsal turning bright red allmost every night.
FWIW I also had a social for a couple of years. It was very anti social as well and my Scott's only ends up in the overflow every couple of months now that I removed him compared to every couple of weeks when he and the social played "tag".
Chris

Thats funny about the Xmas lights :D
When I left the aggression was going down. The first day was interesting to say the least. Nothing physically violent, just figuring out the pecking order kind of thing.
Hopefully I wont have any jumpers. There gonna bounce off of something anyway:D

Why are you going to take out the base rock?

Base rock has been taken out...all went to St Jude. It was just bulky (= no flow), and starting to become an hair algae haven (= PO4 sponge).
Plus, Marshall rock is just so much cooler looking:D
