dwarf angel question

i am thinking of adding a dwarf to my 75 gallon mixed reef. it will be last fish, and the only other fish are 1 blue green chromis, 1 maroon clown (still small - less than 3") a 6 line wrasse and a lawnmower blenny.

i was thinking an eibli angel or something a little more out of the ordinary.

any good / bad experiences, and does anyone think there may be issues with the current list?

Here are a few threads - if you go from these they can be on the aggressive side and some have a taste for zoas and other corals. It's amazing how little info there seems to be on this beautiful little angel. If you get one, please post your experiences and pics!!!

Your fish list sounds great to me. Dwarf angels can hold their own with maroons & many if not most mind their own business. An exceptionally peaceful, but able to hold its own angel IMHO is the Herald's angel. They get a little larger than some of the others but are known for having a taste for the more meaty corals like open brains.

Which fish stands out in this picture - to me it's the gorgeous yellow angel! :D (But you also have to like him better than brains)

I'd be a bit careful on that species. I've read over the year & a half that I've been a member of a couple that were exceptionally destructive.
Since I have a couple of LPS corals in my reef, I went with a C. argi. Cute fish but with an ATTIDUDE!

I've heard it before myself but never attacking LPS:confused: . I know there knoiwn to nip at sps and clams......In my tank, I only have shrooms, zoo's, GCP and a maxima clam....so far so good.

Actually, all the dwarfs I've tried ( 2 coral beauties last year that died, if I had known then what I know now.. and my Cherub have been model citizens. As far as reef compatibility goes with Centropyge I'm 3 for 3. Not bad odds!

That's good to hear......I've had a yellow dwarf angel for 2 yrs and a golden angel about 3 months and they were all reef safe. Currently only have the flameback angel but hoping it stays reef safe:D .

Did you have any brains or simple fleshy corals with your Herald's angel? Mine is crazy for brains..

@angel fish.....At that time, I had shrooms, zoos, frogspawn, hammer, yellow fiji leather and a clam.

I DO, myself. If not for my Wellsophyllia, I'd probably have a flame angel in there now. Didn't want to risk it..

Thanks for the list - mine doesn't eat those corals or clams either
but when I put that brain in he looked positively thrilled :D

Your flameback is a really nice one, BTW.

What do you guy think about adding an African Flameback to a 210 with an existing 10 years old Flame Angel. The new tank has been setup for around 4 month now so I'm thinking the Flame really hasn't established itself yet.

I can count the number of people i've heard of with a 10 year old flame on 1 finger :D

Did he reach the 3.9 inch length? Could you post a picture? That's pretty impressive :)

I wish I could answer your question - is it possible to use an eggcrate or other barrier that the flameback could escape into if need be?

He or she is the second oldest fish I have. My Yellow tang is eleven. I remeber people telling me they don't live beyond 4 or 5 years old. The markings and colors are very interesting and they've changed as she's matured. I'll try and get a pic tomorrow but she like to swim in and out the rocks alot so I'll see what I can do. I'll check on the size too.

@Tony13, I second that on the pic. Sure would like to see it.

Here's a couple of bad pics I took from a distance and cropped them closer. She's around 3.5" and is very camera shy, everytime I came close she hide. I'll have to setup a tripod and try it that way.

Nice fish! And 3.5 in.- wow - that's big if you get out a ruler (I least I had to ;) ) That bottom rear fin is really angular. Thanks for the pictures - more would also be nice.
