Dwarf Fuzzy Lionfish

Finally found the lion fish I was looking for, and what better place to buy it then the diver's den on live aquaria. Here is a picture, expected to be at my house on Thursday! image.jpg

I hadn't seen the lions DD had, but that fish will color-up really nicely. Looks like one of those Maldives fish that come in every so often.

They had another one that was nearly solid red, very interesting looking fish. Here is a picture, would've got it if they didn't have the yellow one for sale.

The only other lion fish I see pop up in DD are those Hawaiian lions.

Great fish! Mine was so inquisitive, or maybe just hungry. Notice i said "was", cover your tank well...

I've seen a bluefin once before not too long ago. I even think someone on here snagged it.

Do cover you tank if it isn't already covered...dwarf fuzzies jump like big dogs, altho all lions can jump. We lost a couple that way...

Bluefins are "special needs" fishes, but are really cool. Unfortunately, even with the proper temperate setup (we kept ours at 63*F), they rarely live long. Our "record" was about a year an a half, but in our case, the fish jumped thru a little space in the tank cover (it was slightly ajar).

Yeah my tank has a lid for my eel. I've read about the bluefin or Blackfoot lion fish on lion fish lair. I really wish that the black foots were easier to care for, they are by far the most beautiful lion fish of them all. In other news I looked at the order status for the fuzzy and it should be here tomorrow at 10:30 am CST. Now all I have to do is trade in my Picasso trigger for some reef goodies.

Update: arrived this morning, but for some reason they did not ask for a signature. In quarantine right now being lazy and hiding in the corner.
Here are some pics, sorry for the quality.

More to come.

Looking good! :-)

Thanks, tried feeding him a piece of freeze dried krill wouldn't take it but looked a little interested. Will try some type of seafood later, if that doesn't work I guess I'll have to go get some freshwater ghost shrimp.

Try to steer clear of the krill. I agree though on trying ghost shrimp and then fresh seafood

Basically, krill is all i have right now. He actually took a piece, but only when the piece of krill was off the feeding stick. Currently, he is just exploring the quarantine tank and looking at what must be his reflection in the glass and at the surface of the water. Will try to make a stop at my lfs tomorrow. Need to get some more stuff to feed my fish all around.

Great...sounds like your fish won't be too tuff to wean. Some fishes aren't crazy about the stick, but most get with the program, esp. if you use a "stealth stick".

Im guessing the stealth stick is the acrlic rod one right, because i use these wooden kabob sticks. So, i for the first time turned on the light and it looks like my pump is blowing him around real good, its approximately 250 gph in a ten gallon tank, shoild i keep it off or turn it on?

Try to re-aim it if you can, or dial it back some. If it's just supplemental flow, you probably don't need it. I just re-pumped a AIO for the tiny P. sphex we have in QT/growout, as the pump was a bit "hot" for it, even after I fooled around with aiming the flow in different spots. About 40 gph made a big difference in the NC24 it's in.

Cant dial it back, broke the thing to do it. Well starting quarantine process, here is the schedule:
Week 1: half dose of cupramine copper for 1 week, attempt prepared foods
Week 2: start starve
Week 2.5, day 17 or so: attempt prepared food
Week 3: another half dose of cupramine for 1 week
Week 4: prepare for arrival in big tank.
