Dwarf Lion in Refugium?

Alright, so, here's my current situation:

I recently went up to my favorite LFS, planning to buy some Chaeto, extra LR, and Grape caulerpa for my refugium. I bought all of that, and I saw little fuzzy dwarf lions in a tank together, all maybe 2 inches. THEY WERE ADORABLE. Now, me, having a past with venemous fish (I've had a rhinopias, fu manchu lion, mombasa lion, and leaf fish, all who I miss dearly:sad1:.), I bought one on an impulse buy. However, I asked the refugium guru there if I could put her in my refugium, and he said yes. And since she's so small, I don't wanna put her in my main tank with faster, more competitive fish. She's not eating any mysis yet (it's her second day, I'm gonna try with the light off.), and she's just chilling under an overhang I made for her with the extra LR I bought. So, what do you guys think? Should I keep her in there? I should mention that my main tank is 180 gallons, and my 'fuge in 75 gallons (bowfront).
My levels are all in amazing shape. I can get you other info if you need it.
Thanks!!

We often use a HOB fuge as a grow-out tank. In fact, it is currently home to a tiny waspfish. As for lions, our dime-sized D. barberi lived in it for the first few months after we got her because she was so small.

Bottom line, I'd say it's a good place for the fish to become conditioned, weaned (congrats on getting it eating, BTW), and put on a little size. Just take precautions that the fish doesn't get stuck in the baffles, and be mindul that fuzzies can and do jump.

I think she'll be okay in her cozy 75 gallon refugium :) I would just be worried about any ways for the fish to caught in the plumbing.

Once the fish gets used to its digs, it should become pretty bold. I just LOVE juvie lionfish, and fuzzies are simply one of the most fun to keep. We currently have a pair of reds (one red, one maroon) in a growout tank, and they're hilarious.

One has decided that if we're not quick enuff with the feeding stick that it needs to spit water at us to get our attention.

Lol that's funny. Mine chased a drop of water running down the glass this morning. I didn't know these fish had so much personality.

Juvies are AWESOME. They usually are very bold and more active than they'll ever be again in their lifetime.

This is not in focus (new camera I didn't know how to work), but it shows how frisky they are.

If only mine was that personable! She's really secretive, but I think it's because of the lighting. It's not intense or anything, but I gave her LOTS of room to hide anyways, so at least she's putting it to good use. She eats well now(mysis soaked in GVH).:bounce3:

I guarantee that once your fish gets used to everything, it will be just the same as most lions.

You'd laugh at the fish in our ersatz fish room...besides all of them begging when we're in front of the tank, the fish on the other side of the room are plastered against the glass watching our every move and telling us not to forget them. One of the juvie fuzzies spits water at us if it gets too impatient.

This past weekend, our 14 year old was standing by the Mombasa's tank eating an ice cream drumstick, and the fish was doing its best to get a bite. I started LMAO, and Griffin asked "what?", and i just pointed at the fish...he started LOL too.

They are awesome. Love my lions. Renee -- I love the video. Congrats on the feeding success. My fuzzy came weaned!

Just thought I'd toss in a pic of our "fuge-type" growout setup:

I recall seeing that from looking at your website (lionfishlair), and I must say, you guys do AMAZING setups. You two (among others) are the people who got me into the saltwater hobby. But yeah, she's eating like a pig now, but 1 thing I find odd is how she won't swim. If mysis is free floating, she won't get it. If she moves, she swims---"hops" like a fu manchu. Pretty weird.:frog:

We got that fuge really cheap on Ebay because it was cracked (the diagonal line on the back right). It was a cinch to patch and has worked well for a few years now.

Our juvie fuzzies will follow free-floating food, but won't strike it. However, if I follow the food with the stick so it LOOKS like it's attached, they'll eat it...go figure. I guess they like being pampered...
