Been a while since I've looked at your thread Dwayne - Gem Tang! Wow. That might be a bigger attraction than any of your SPS pieces, if that is possible. You are a brave man for taking the plunge.

That RR piece looks rediculous.

I still am a SPS guy but the Gem is pretty nice to look at as well!
Its only money haha, not really sure why got in to me when I ordered it but glad I did.
Ive kept my eye on your tank as well, looking VERY good indeed!

A custom top would be a good addition.

Thanks Newb, hope my PM helped you out a bit in regards to dosing. Still no luck on a top unfortunately. I took a few pics the other day and could not get anything to come out properly. I blame my wife for messing with my custom white balance:debi:

Sorry, missed this question. I add trace elements per the Fauna Marin directions. I will continue with the trace even though I have switched to BRS alk and Ca

I do use several Zeo products. Intermittently at best / whenever I think of it.

Pohls Extra 5ml three times a week
Sponge power 5ml three times a week
LPS amino 2ml 2 times a week.

Plus I feed an outrageous amount of food every day

MOst people would think I am nuts ....

Would you mind sharing which Fauna Marin elements you add?

Ultra trace B heavy metal komplex
iodine-fluoric-komplex
stronium-barium-komplex

Whatever that is

Its the first day Ive had to myself in a while. Will post up on the other site when its for sure. Might be nice to get a bunch of reefers together

Thanks Clown, I feed the coral every once in a while with frozen cyclopese but mostly I just feed an enormous amount of PE Mysis, reg Mysis and some brine to mix it up The more I feed the better everything looks. To give you an idea I feed a min of 4 cubes PE mixed with 2 cubes of mysis every day. Plus LFE pellets a few times a day to keep the cows grazing

I am definitely running out of room. Have two dozen LE sticks to plant and no where to go. And the worst part is I do not want to remove colonies (even if they are not as cool as the new LE's) because the tank will look like its taking a step backwards. For now I am trying to grow out the LE frags into nice sized mini colonies then will find a spot for them

I hesitate to put this up as its a bit weird, I don think anyone does it the way I do (maybe)

6 bulbs come on at 11am and off at 7pm - 2 fiji pink, 2 new ati coral plus (I put these in the middle of the fixture side by side - first use of these, not sure if I like them yet) and 2 Blue +

2 more ati Blue + come on at 3pm and off at 11pm

5ft Reefbrite RB on at 9pm and off at 12pm

So I get crazy unrealistic colour from 11pm to 12pm which is cool to look at
Super nice realistic (ok maybe too much blue) colour from 11 to 7 - great for pictures

It seems to be working! I am never home until 6-8pm, so I set my schedule accordingly. Coral doesnt know the real time

Still trying to dial in using the BRS salts instead of the Fauna stuff. Been testing alk like mad. Its interesting to think that every time I add a kg of alk or calcium that somewhere inside my box of water, something has grown by exactly that much !

That is a good sign. I know in my tank my alk and ca demands increased quite suddenly... it happened without me realizing it and I had to double check my tests as I thought they were artificially low... but alas the corals must have gotten to that point that they wanted more and more.

It is amazing to think that is how reefs grow, little bit by bit... and eventually you can get a built up of reef and sediment (from things like parrot fish grinding up coral) collecting and along comes some drifting coconuts and and birds pooping seeds and viola! You have an island!
