Earlei Wrasse a Reality

I do believe that Earlei wrasses come out of Palau.... Palau has a direct flight to Japan 3 days a week....

there are no collections in Palau though. at the moment anyway...

shame those resplendens were probably from one of the smuggled batches over the last couple years.

Its looking like they set to arrive on a flight Wednesday at 4 p.m. From what I gather there was some confusion with the airline so it got pushed back another day. Its a long trip from Hawaii to Nebraska so I guess if every detail isn't covered I would prefer the chance isn't taken that they don't get here in a timely manner. My guy in Hawaii says here eating like pigs, so I am hoping they are ready for the trip. I think maybe he just enjoys giving me some more gray hairs.

Jim, you know a lot more than I, but wouldn't you want him not feeding the fish?! I thought it would keep the water quality in the bag better if they weren't fed a few days prior to shipping.

I am not sure when he cuts off the feeding. I found out more on the delay, its due to an animal restriction in Denver from the heat which is part of the leg to get it to Omaha.

Huh heat in Denver its great weather for shipping through Denver today they must have some weird weather reports

i just wished i was a good enough a reef tank keeper to actually have the confidence to buy such awesome fish... *sigh* so awesome....

I can tell you that I am a nervous wreck thinking about acclimating them. I just keep telling myself that I have been doing this for 7 years and its no different than acclimating a Damsel. I not buying it though.:lmao:

Delta has a direct flight here to SLC. I can hold them for you Jim for a year or so.

LOL

If I had only known sooner, they shipped already, maybe next time. My LFS Ruff Waters who's helping me with the broker says he got a picture mail of them being loaded into a bag a few hours ago. I am hoping for pics by this time tomorrow of them swimming in the specimen container I have rigged up to allow there only tank mate to show his true temperament before they get released. Any advice on how long to leave them in it if theres no aggression? maybe once the lights are off they can be released?

I usually keep them in the acclimation box for a couple of days, just to make sure they are eating and getting food. I have a pvc elbow in the box so that they can go in and relax.
But my tank sounds like it has alot more fish in it than yours. Just watch and see how they react to their new home. I'm sure they will do great for you.

I picked up the trio at around 5, all are doing well and no sign of aggression from the Naokae or Possum Wrasse the only 2 tank mates they have. Here are a couple camera phone shots to tide you all over until I get the digitals sorted through. A good friend of mine helped with the acclimation and shot a video of them eating like pigs, he will post that later.
