Earlei Wrasse a Reality

Im completely sorry. I did talk to Brian--no lie--I have known him personally since his trip to Xmas with John Earle and Rich Pyle about 4-5 years ago. As for knowledge about fish--I really dont know much. I just like rare fish....like the masked angelfish I caught 3 weeks ago....

Thanks for the apology. I am curious if these were collected by Brian and sent to Koji.

cool vid Jim..that smallest one is so tiny

Its interesting how her colors are so different, I have never seen a pic of a juvenile so I didn't know what to expect. I wonder how long it will take her to get the coloration of the other female. The male and the bigger female hung out pretty close together this evening once I let them out into the tank but the little one kind of cruised around checking things out. So far no bullying from the Naokae Wrasse, but he did swim around them a few times kind of checking them out. I turned off the lights so everyone will get along.

Also, thanks for the apology. Something just didn't sit right with me. No reason you can't disagree with anything anybody says here, just try to do it in a polite way! Things can certainly be misconstrued when typed vs. spoken!

Jim, the smaller female is TINY. It's a good thing the tank isn't stocked very much as I'd be worried about her getting bullied.

So happy to see you got these guys, hopefully more people here in the states begin to collect some of these rare wrasses, angels, butterflies, etc. Goes to show, the only reason we don't see them in the US is that we have to pony up some cash to get them over here! For too long the Japanese have been outbidding us on these beauties!

You are real gentleman.
Mind if I ask, where are the masked angelfish now?

That's awsome Jim that they are out and enjoying your tank. I always feel better after a few days , and they are doing well in the display. DJ called me today from Oahu , told me he might be getting a few rare ones in.

Congrats on your new arrivals! Looks like you are setting the bar pretty high for fellow wrasse lovers. Hope they do well for you. Enjoy!

That sound exciting. My wrasse budget may be shot for the month though.

i did hear from somewhere that Brian was going to be diving soon and to stay tuned for some cool stuff

Yes, that is true. I don't know that he ever stopped diving, but he did stop selling fish. However, that may resume. He was the collector for my pair of C. Earlei

Three years. I also heard he was going to be selling fish again but shipping logistics may be complex. Since he dives a closed circuit rebreather, that opens up certain species that would be otherwise difficult to acquire.

Thats good to hear on the 3 years with these fish. I can account first hand for the shipping logistics. That was the biggest hurdle as you likely need one stop on the way to the USA. The shipping alone accounted for nearly $1000 of the total cash I laid out for this trio. It wouldn't of mattered if I was shipping yellow Tangs it costs a lot when your covering 7000 plus miles. Of course shipping a bigger quantity and there are possibly other cheaper options. Either way I would guess your not likely to see any bargains from a Brian Greene caught fish. It is exciting to see what we may end up with though.

Brian is in the Marshalls so the best flight would be MAJ-HNL-Anywhere in the U.S. If you sent the fish to JPN first then the shipping out of Japan is 3-4 times more expensive than out of Hawaii. But the idea of fish caught on a CCR out of marshall islands is nice because now you can get flavocoranatus, 1" grifisi, blue colored bispinosa, earlei wrasses, etc. Now it makes it all exciting!!!

I recently just reworked the entire tank and converted it to Acan Lords, new rock and some new red slime to go along with it:lmao: I prefer to knock these things out with water changes and gravel vacuuming so it takes a while longer. I am nervous to use any chemicals. So for now It will just have to annoy you...and me as well:lmao:
