EARS meeting?

29th would work for me. I have no idea about the trouble, I like both of them. Hopefully we will get something started :).

I really like both fine too. I usually visit both when I go to the area and typically spend money at both. I did have a situation at one a couple of saturdays ago that I didnt like something the owner said but I am a big boy I will get over it and then that same afternoon this same owner did something else that really surprised me but that being enough said about that. one of those stores was up for sale the last time I was in there as well.(maybe an oportunity for an entrepreneur)
I would try to support. I have been to a couple of central alabamas now including the last one which the guys fron north al. came down. I offered support the last time snuggles was doing it at aqua but something came up at work and I just couldnt get there that day.If we keep this going maybe we could stir some interest. I think the only way it could grow would be away from the competing stores so maybe they would tell their customers about it?

hmm....how many people we talkin??...dont really know of any places good for a frag swap...i dont know if my 40g breeder will be ready in time

I'm sorta stumped on a place myself. Could we possibly have it at Valley & Aqua on a rotating basis?

Just throwin this out there... We might want to think about not having a march meeting and start planning a April meeting. That would give us a little more time to talk to the stores and see whats goin on. It would also give us more time to get a better idea on how many people are interested in getting EARS going strong. If we rushed a meeting this month, I'm afraid there would be about 3 of us. Just an idea...

As far as somthing to do at a meeting... Frag swapin, equipment tradin, A short presentation on a DIY project, Fragging demos, Share picures and what-not, short presentation on reef chemistry, reef feeding. Snack/food would be cool...the list goes on and on.

Any other ideas on what we should do to get EARS goin?

If there were 3, that would be 3 times the last one ;). I'm open to either. I work every other weekend so it will be hit or miss if I can make it or not. I have no idea who everyone is, and just meeting and getting started would be good. My son and dtr-in-l have there nano setup and working on a 75. My 90 is still a dust bucket so my choices are limited at this time. Hopefully tomorrow I will be getting my dry rock wet again and the system will be put together soon.

This month or plan for April, either is good, we just need to get organized and not let it linger and die.

i agree with april...a rushed meeting this month will be no good...plus the last weekend of the month i wont be there....umm i would say if i could get permission from the head of my department at jsu...i could open it up for us in one of the lobby areas but there would be no tanks set up as all the empty tanks now where used for some ICH and ESC research....i could probably clean them up but they wouldnt be ready to hold anything by then....if we shoot for an april date maybe my frag tank will be ready by then and we can have it at my house (in jacksonville)

both of those ideas sound promising...at some point I would be glad to host but it would require folks to make a drive down 20 to Pell City (not to far)

hey its great that we got some interest in EARS again. i dont know my schedule as of yet cause my little man has baseball practice and games the next few months but as soon as i get his schedule i will know more as to how i can help out. but anyone is welcome to take the reins and round up this meeting. but like you guys have said only a few will be interested but few is better then none and the few that show up can discuse how we could go about the next meeting getting more interested. just to also let you know that kathy at valley tropicals said that we are always welcomed to host EARS at her store.

great, glad to see you are still reading snuggles...I thought you might have been mad at me about last time....valley sounds great and if we can get shawn back on board i bet interest will grow because they will tell folks.

yeah i am still here :D just mostly silent and reading. been kinda sad about my tank. i brought home a coral beauty and didnt qt it before adding it to my main tank and learned the hard way. it broke out with ick a week later and i had to run out and set up a qt because like all newbies i believed it wasnt worth investing in upfront. then a week later my green cromis had a spot on its fin. so i had to remove all the fish from my main tank and put them into the qt. i lost the honey damsel and my favorite fish the lawnmower blenny. i think the damsel got ate and the blenny just couldnt handle the stress of being qt. but the evil cromis are all still alive and happy. but the cb isnt looking too great. its got something on its face that looks like its loosing its color or something. but he is still eating so i guess its just stress too. but all signs of ick are gone so far and i just have to wait it out until i can put them back into the main tank again. 3 weeks down and 5 more to go. but the worst thing is i had to rearange the rockwork to get the fish out of the main tank and i placed a frogspawn next to my display wall hammer and the hammer got stung and died. so lesson learned the hard way. one single fish has caused me such heart break when it could of been avoided with a simple qt set up. i am hoping that shawn at tropial valley can get me in another hammer. it was so beautiful and i hope to have another one. this time i know better then to place another coral anywhere near it.

Sorry for all the trouble you have had :( Tomorrow is another day and things will be better for you I'm sure. I'm sure it won't take that long for you to find another hammer and your tank will be better than before.

Any Saturday in april is open for me. I'd like the 19th or the 26th the best though.

As far as a meeting place...I dunno. Could someone in the area check with Kathy at Valley, to see what date would be best for them? If they still want to host a meeting that is.

We could check with Aqua escapes to see if they would like to host Junes meeting.

Just throwin it out there.

im thinkin if none of them want to do it i may do it at my house but it may be out of the way for some folks....i will wait to see what any of them have to say first

I work the weekend of the 19th, so 12th or 26th gets my vote, not that it counts much ;). I bet either store will host it, they like customer relations. Someone in the area just needs to touch base with them.

yeah and valley moved...maybe they will be ready for a big grand opening sale, show and crowd...i hope to be up there and visit both shops by the end of week. see what they say.
