90 Gallon 10 year old reef. Have had the leathers,shrooms,Frogspawn, Torch all for about that time. Have had them under a 6 bulb Aquaticlife T5 set up for a little over a year now. But have been under T5's for about 3 years. Diablo 160xs skimmer, just ordered the BRS 1000SS Bio Pellet reactor. Calcium about 480, not sure of the Alkalinity number but I know it is fine. Magnesium is 1300 or so. Want to try an SPS up high in the tank. Any recommendations?

Any type of birdnest have been easiest for me... very fast growth. The first acro I tried was a Bali Green Slimer, which also grows fast and is very hardy. Good luck.

+1 (red/pink birdsnest is great color to get you started), also purple stylo, green pocillopora, any staghorn. id stay away from those designer names, there expensive,tiny and demanding, until you get the hang of things. When I first started sps, I had to get rid of all my leathers because of chemical warfare. You may want to research that.

You dont have to get rid of the leathers, especailly if you are just putting a few pieces of SPS here and there. Now if you want to start getting more and more sps and wanting the insane colors you see here on this board you are going to have to atleast limit the leathers you have.

Plating montipora, encrusting montipora, birdsnest, poccilapora are good starters.
