I recently have heard that there are some really unique and beautiful tanks on the East Coast.

I know there have always been threads about our tanks out west, but what about those secrets out east.

Can I see them? Thanks.

i dont think mine is that unique, but i like it and think its beautiful, ill share it will ya since im in atlanta.

im getting rid of mose of the lps soon, and will be moving the sps around and adding more, its not the greatest, but its still young.

Is there really a difference between East Coast and West Coast tanks? We all have the same fish, corals, and equipment available so why would there be a noticeable difference between each coast?

Its not like the tanks are different, but the species of corals can be. What I was asking is I know that there are some great corals on the East Coast, so lets see them. Thanks.

I will update my FTS this weekend

I would definitely say there is a difference. Since most of the LE corals originate out west then they spread out from there. There are guys in the rest of the country that know the people that have alot of the newest and greatest that get them shipped directly but they are few and far between.

All the proof you need is to see where a majority of the high end coral dealers are located. They are in either LA or San Fran. I visited SF about a month ago and went to Atlantis Aquarium and they had in their frag tank a sunset monti. I could have walked away with that for $50 and if I did not have to ship I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I know of only one or two people locally that have that coral and it does not get fragged often if at all. I know another local guy that got a pink lemonade frag in a trade with another high end dealer but that won't spread in this area for quite a while since when I saw it it was about 3/4".

Ding ding ding...I can't get crap at the LFS. And the crap that they do have is well just that crap....and its expensive crap. I restarted my system back up last July and to get my list of livestock i pretty much have to have it all shipped to me.....quite pricey and not all are going to make it(its a long list). I wish i could just run up to the store and buy a sunset monti for 50 bucks.

I should have said that it was in the $80/frag section and it looked pretty stressed from recent fragging. I noticed a hint of orange base with green polyps so I asked Ming if it was the sunset. He said it was and since it was small he would sell it for $50.

Regardless, if I could walk into a LFS and pick up any number of LE pieces regardless of cost my tank would have a lot nicer stuff.

It's no secret that the west coast is the place to be when it comes to an abundant amount of beautiful corals.

I was in San Diego a while back and everything in almost every store was off the hook!

It's been an uphill battle to try and get my wife to move to Cali just so I can have instant access to all of those sweet corals you guys get first dibs on.

For now I just sit and wait for one of you west coast peeps to have a frag sale...

I cannot get a good FTS of my tank, but here are some shots of my corals.

well well well

well well well

I believe the only way its thru clubs and fellow reefers- I'm not complaining b/c we have quite a selection of lfs in south dade, could it be better yes/ but then again other places are much worst.
And there's also RM.;)

Yeah I always collect the exotic ones and it costs a arm and a leg to get it then tack on $50 for the shipping it turns into a $200 3/4" FRAG. Its insane funy thing $200 for a pink lemonade frag shiped is the best I could find so far that is a SHAME !!!!!!

It's so true, we get the shaft when it comes to a lot of coral. I guess it's just so much easier to fly a shipment of coral from say Japan/Thailand to Cali, than to ship it all the way to New Jersey. To much of risk that a lot of corals will die. Then, once they hit cali, they get gobbled up by our fellow reefers, who share, but boy what a price we pay, coral+shipping. But what can be done? I found a guy with a Pink Lemonade acro, LUCKILY, on the east coast. But, it was a hunt. I'm looking for a raspberry acro, that's going to be another journey.

Anyway, there are more than enough great tanks on the East Coast, I'll post a pic of mines later. Nothing great, but it's mines.

Edwin
