easy coral

i dont think you should buy anything from aquatraders. yes their prices are great, but i've seen many people complain about their lighting. fans are very noisy, ballast burning, bad bulbs, and bad circuit. when the customers try to contact they dont have very good customer service, not returning calls. i dont have any experience with them but from the many complaints about their products im going to keep it that way. just a little heads up so you know..

Sorry, I didn't mean to get off topic. Pagoda corals are an LPS. The ricordia are mushrooms.

To be clear I don't think there is any such thing as a beginner or easy coral. If you have your tank parameters set, than you will be able to keep whatever you choose. The trick w/ lower light setups is to keep the more light hungry specimens close to the top of the tank. That would be your ricordia and your lps corals. Don't be fooled the ricordia love light, especially the ricordia florida. Any leather coral is good in lower light conditions. I'm sure there are people out there that will disagree w/ me on this, but this has been my experience so far.

awesome thanks for the info. i currently have them pretty close to the top they are on the top layer of the tank so they should probably do alright im guessing. do you think the green star polyps will make it there also close to the top, they have a good amount of light on them.

I think those are both fuzzies and not ricordia. Ricordia have much shorter "nubs". Both fuzzies and rics are a little bit tougher than your standard mushrooms, but not much. I have a fuzzy green that doubles in size just about monthly. They'll grow in pretty low light as well. I've gotten in the habit of throwing my mushrooms and xenia down in the fuge portion of my sump whenever I feel the need to thin them out in my main tank. It's only lit with a 26w 6500K PC bulb from Lowes. They do great. Of course, they grow much faster in my main tank under the T-5s.

Just FYI:
new thread just started in Lighting sction re: Aquatraders.com....
I just bought their CFS filter to run carbon...direct knockoff for a Cascade Filter (even use's the same media cartridges)...selling at PatCo for $150.00...got mine for $50.
has been running great for three days now...and quieter then my Fluval 404....

i think i might give aqua traders a try and if i dont like it then whatever i'll do my best to fix it. hey you live you learn...
