Ebay MH bulbs

I am currently using XM 14000k's over my tank. I ordered the 20000k pulse rite.
When they come in I will take a photo of both.

I havent been able to find a 250w 20k DE plusrite bulb on ebay. I want to see the difference myself in person between that and a phoenix 14k.

The ones there are single ended. I need double ended and 1000bulbs doesnt seem to carry any.

Well my bulbs finally came in! Everything arrived safe and sound. I already have them installed. All I can say is wow. Really nice. I originally had ordered the 20k's but changed my order to the DE 250w 14k's a day later. I wasn't sure what would arrive since I had all the shipping problems but man these lights are sharp. Crisp white with a hint of blue. Perfect for my taste. I'll try to shoot a DT shot as well. I'm happy with the quality that is for sure. Customer service is really slow but for the price not a bad deal.

What were you running before? Is is a dual bulb system? If it is a dual bulb system, Can/would you change 1 bulb back to the old one and take a FTS?

Cheap is different than inexpensive. And yes, I agree with you Aquatrader bulbs are Cheap. :frog:

That's funny, because I'm running 14k PlusRite and I love the color. I guess it's all a personal choice.

On a related note, I ordered another set from trust_deals and this time they shipped my order the next day and I received my order in two days. Very pleased with the order this time!

I run 14k on my display and this order was for two 10k. The 10k is a real nice crisp white, very similar to the XM 10k they replaced. When I get some time, I'll try to get a tank shot of the 10k and 14k for anybody interested in the lower temp bulbs.

They don't look that green in person, I could have corrected the pics but I figured I'd show a raw comparison. The pic is accurate, not sure why it took on that greenish hue.. might have something to do with the aquarium glass? Either way, same camera same settings... that's what I got and I figured for the purposes of the pic I shouldn't alter it.


That being said, the 20k looks dramatically better even in person. I don't like the look of the 14k bulbs at all, nor does anyone else that's seen them and then seen the 20k. IMO there is no reason for anyone to run anything other than a 20k bulb unless they are in the business of selling frags. I've not seen a tank that didn't look a lot better under 20k.

It is interesting to me that you are so set in stating that people are fools for getting this. Frankly, you are the only one in the thread (or anywhere) that has had anything bad to say. As far as cheaply made, I am not sure where you get that. It looks EXACTLY the same as some of the name brand bulbs side by side. They sucked for you, you told us your opinion. Thanks!

The difference is largely going to be higher par values at lower depths. Visually the 400 will also look "brighter"

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with these guys, just saying that i think something is delaying shipments and they're not truthful about it.

To me "we found an issue that caused a delay" seems truthful enough. They aren't saying why, and frankly they don't have to. Not trying to protect them or anything, but my thoughts are that their sales are taking off as these are very well priced and they are simply not equipped for the multitude of sales they are getting.

From my perspective, failing to return multiple emails and calls seems little strange to me and telling me something has shipped when it has not it also strange. I have a feeling they drop ship them and don't really know what's going on with them until somebody complains. They list the company as being located in PA, but my last shipment was shipped from NJ.
