Ebay MH bulbs

Do you have pictures of the coral blue?

The Phoenix 14k is on the left:

Yeah, but the problem for me was when I got the 20k, it was still nowhere near the Phoenix 14k. It was in between those two still more toward the white. I just gave up at that point.

Will post pictures of my tank on Friday since I am out of town. I am currently running the Odyssea MH bulbs and they are ok and the Coralife are running with coralife 14k and they are good. But I want more blue in my tank. Will post pictures for you guys to see.

Time to leave the Plusrite family-LOL

Time to leave the Plusrite family-LOL

The initial bulbs I received where 14k DE Coral Blue. All I can tell you is they looked 10k compared to my Phoenix 14k.

I don't think PAR will be an issue with these bulbs, just the color IMO

I have used plusrite for about a year, par readings hold there own-but I never really got the blue color I wanted-and I run 4-65 actinic in addition to the 2-250DE MH. I have used the 14K and 20K from plusrite, but after seeing a friends tank who ran the phoenix 14K I had to give it a try-

Yes the tank has a more blue look, but I really like it-my chalices are popping, my acans-everything looks SO MUCH more colorful (of course I know).

As I had preached plusrite for ever, I still think they are for sure worth the money and would buy them again, if they delivered the look I have now-so for me-the plusrites are retired never to return- and as an added bonus, as I understand corals will grow faster in the lower Kelvin rating.

Time for me to unsubscribe-good luck all-Plusrite bulbs are the way to go, I just like the more bluish look-

Plusright Metal Halide 20k

After getting feedback I took the plunge. I just ordered 2 250w 20k and 2 150w 20k MH bulbs from Trust Deal on e-bay. I will post pictures when i get them.

Artemis 14k 250w

Artemis 14k 250w

I'd thought I'd contribute. I have been using Artemis bulbs for a while and quite happy with them. Reeflux 20k has more PAR by around 10 to 15%.

Keep in mind, my reflectors are home made. I think the bulbs on the left and right need to be straightened out more.. but you get the idea.

These are off ebay by a seller called hobby lighting. Each bulb is $10 plus shipping.

Have you tried their 20k bulbs? Thanks for the picture - The lights seem more blue than the other ebay seller's bulbs.

Also, how are growth rates and coral coloration? Thx again

I will admit I did not read all 11 pages on this thread. But I bought a large lot of bulbs from china off ebay. At first they were very intense but have seemed to fade out from 4 to 6 months. One major thing I noticed, is the color temp varied on every single bulb. Tank looked wierd with varing color temps. I will certainly be going back to consistant XM bulbs. Not worth the savings IMO.

From my experience and reading other experiences, I'm sticking with my original impression that these bulbs are factory rejects either from a cosmetic standpoint or the manufacturer testing them.
