Need a light for my 125 reef.

Would these be worth a look?

Any good places to purchase retros,or fixtures? (reasonable priced)
Don't want to spend 1k for lights

man those spider reflectors look so cheap...i'd find a oddysea fixture over those....the catalina one isnt bad...actually went to their shop HUUUGEEE warhouse....

here's a breakdown of your best route get some used lumenbrights/lumenarc's can usually find them for about 65$ each....3 ice cap ballasts new are like 130(atleast for 250w ones) and 3 phoenix 14k se bulbs...thats about 250$ that brings you in at about 850....if you got some used icecaps probably would be cheaper still.

those lumenbrights are insane how much light they put out i had to raise mine 12" above the water level cause i was cooking my corals

I bought the catalina retro. They work fine for me so far, no complaints. I had 3 175 watt mh on my 125 and 4 60 watt t5 with icecap 660 for actinic supplementation. Wanna see an accurate portrayal of the color?

the 92 corner has 4, 24inch 40 watt vho t5s with 2 actinic white, 1 white, and 1 true actinic with a 175 watt 10k (about 11 months old, needs to be replaced). On the 125, its the 3 175's when the bulbs were maybe 5 or 6 months with the 4 36inch inch 60watt t5s. Both pics are very accurate in color. As for the 250watt systems, I am not sure but I would buy again if the price is right. I got all 3 of the 175watt mh for.... 375 shipped I think. Doing it all over again, I would go with the lumatek dimmable ballast so i can do 175 or 250 watt with a standard spider reflector (canopy dimension restrictions) and a 10 or 12k with actinics for... $125 more or so over the setup I had with the catalina lights. That way I would of had the choice of 175 watt or 250. You never know when u will need more power in this hobby.
