echinata growth

I don't think I've seen a Hawkins with that coloration. My Hawkins has a lot of turquoise with the tips a dark blue.

The hawkins is not a true echinata. It is a different species.

This echinata and the hawkins are completely different.

Good for you!!! THat echinata is gorgeous! You've got some seriously impressive coloration.

So.... What is your lighting
you water change schedule
and your Ca/Alk supplimentation.

Finally, how often do you check your parameters?

2 thumbs up!

Just curious,but.... If the Hawkins is not an echinata, what is it? I believe it is still being sold as an echinata.

Um, I think that link is flawed...there is no indication of scale in those pictures. If you shrink the photo of a lokani, you seem to get the hawkins (PS - "hawkings" made me laugh.... who knew Steven was in the coral naming game :D ).

LOL. Idiot me. I am sure if Steven read this, he would have been proud, in a computer voice way.

Scale is important in many instances, but for this occasion, we really need to focus on the corallite formation, and its shape.

I never had any luck with the "echinata" corals.... I had a yellow echinata frag and it bleached out and then i tried the ora hawkins and it lasted longer but i never saw any growth out of either. meanwhile all the rest of my sps looked great

Nonetheless that is one awesome looking coral
