Ecosystem Miracle Mud

im intrested in this product too but have no info. I however remeber reading its supposed to be switched every so often. could be wrong but i thought i heard that.

They recommend replacing half every 2 years. Kinda messy but shouldn't be too bad if it's in a compartment of the sump by itself.

yea i agree, but i worry about disrupting the DSB...that could release toxins that will wipe out your whole tank. thats the only thing holding me back from use..

I am considering using it also. I was told it does not hold nitrate like a sand bed, that if it was disturbed it would not cause problems.

What are you going to use it for? are you planting mangroves or something? Anyone who markets there product with this should be shot " so that ANYONE can set up and maintain a reef aquarium with ease." IDK personally I use sand for a DSB if that is what your going to use it for. It has trace elements yes but maintenance and water changes will replenish those. How they can say it won't trap nitrates in the top layers of it like a DSB is absurd unless it come with some kind of micro organism that found a way to aerobically process nitrates. This is just my opinion by the way, D, for all I know they could have found an organism that does that.

haha i feel you V i think its a crocka S### who knows im going DSB thought im sticking with methods that are tried and true

(and I have much experience with MM and DSB's)

set up your reef aquarium with the best quality REAL ROCK FROM THE OCEAN live rock (no junk!) and skip the MM. If setting up a DSB go remote with it unless you plan on keeping reef critters in the display aquarium that require a DSB.

jmo but I would never spend money on "live" sand or mud. The Garf stuff maybe. I like the description:
It appears to provide a different habitat and, quite possibly, nutrients for corals.
....appears and quite possibly

but Leng Sy's 'Miracle Mud' shouldn't be compared to Garf Grunge or "live" sand. These are all different.

FWIW bagged "live" sand is a total ripoff IMO.

Best Idea, start with quality rock, even if it means spending a good bit of your budget.
