http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1812992

We are excited to launch the EcoSmart driver for the VorTech propeller pump MP10 and MP40 models (all current models are upgradeable to EcoSmart). The EcoSmart driver represents a forward step over the Wireless Wave Driver in our quest for continual innovation. The latest in a series of groundbreaking technological advancements for the market, the EcoSmart driver has exciting new modes and an extended wireless range. We expect the new EcoSmart driver to begin shipping with VorTech pumps next week and we will also make available driver upgrade packages at that time for our existing customers.

EcoSmart is the culmination of 18 months of development and our efforts at complimenting the best pump technology on the market with the most versatile, controllable and customizable driver. The current VorTech wave driver is ground-breaking in its ability to deliver high performance and extensive functionality right out of the box. EcoSmart takes pump control to new heights.

With EcoSmart, we've taken the guesswork out of positioning and setting up pumps and automated the process of creating the best environment for a coral reef. All the aquarist has to do is position the VorTech pumps according to the EcoSmart instructions and select an EcoSmart mode, the EcoSmart driver will do the rest, orchestrating the pumps to work together, providing the most efficient flow and wave conditions for aquarium livestock.

The EcoSmart driver, with its LED interface and dial controlled speed adjustment, offers unprecedented fine-tuning to enable reef enthusiasts to set the perfect environment for your aquarium.

Major features of the EcoSmart Controller include:

"¢ Convert any MP10 and MP40 to an EcoSmart driver and to wireless
"¢ Convert any MP20 to an MP40w ES model (purchase MP40w ES upgrade kit plus MP40w power supply)
"¢ Increased master-slave pump relationship functionality
"¢ Easily auto-tune, program, and save customized waves
"¢ New modes including Tidal Swell and Nutrient Transport for an even more realistic reef experience
"¢ Time and speed adjustable for Feed and Night modes
"¢ Sleek LED interface with on/off switch
"¢ Auto-dim automatically turns the LED's off after a user-set amount of time
"¢ Adjustable battery backup speed and remaining power indicator

I know you're going to have a lot of questions. We have updated our website with the latest manuals and videos to assist you in making your aquarium EcoSmart!

Well the "Nutrient Transport" mode is a very innovative idea, but I wonder if it actually works. Supposedly the pumps will run in a mode designed to lift detritus off the sand bed, followed by a mode that will bring it to the surface to be skimmed away.

Seems hard to believe, but if it actually works that would be worth the price of the upgrade to me.

Im gonna upgrade. For me its only $50. Just got mine and there is $25 off till end of April. And an additional $25 if you recently purchased yours.

I upgraded mine and tracking info says it will be here tomorrow. Just another fun toy to play with. Hell I didn't even use all the other features on the current one. I run it in Reef Crest mode and leave it. I'll have to play with this one and see whats good with it.

This is awesome........Maybe a little SCUBA Diver lives in the wet side head. Once a day, he swims about to "export nutirents" ?? God I love technology.

Honestly, other than speed controls, how different could it possibly be?

Just trying to be objective, not slamming Vortec owners here.

hows the new toy? :D

Ok I received mine and proceeded to hook it up earlier today. Works good and wouldn't you know it...a little SCUBA Diver did live in the wet side head and already came out once to "export my nutirents"! He was cool looking :lmao:.

Sorry DD I had to go there because your post did make me laugh.. I purchased mine because I like to keep my equipment up to date and wanted to get it before the price increased.

I am thinking the same, wonder if there is a market for the older drivers...

Ive seen several sell them on the main for sale forum already. I'm going to list mine as well, can't hurt correct.

I had to return my mp40 under warranty. They are sending me this new version for a $50 upgrade fee. Hope it is worth the extra scoots.
