Hi Guys,

We recently upgraded our power head system to 1x ECOTECH MARINE VORTECH MP10-QD QUIETDRIVE PROPELLER PUMP ( WIRELESS CAPABLE ). But the flow isn't enough for our SPS Tank.

We are thinking of getting another MP10 and wish for BOTH Powerheads to communicate to each other and synchronize the movement.

SHOULD we purchase another ( WIRELESS CAPABLE ) MP10 or the ( WIRELESS ) ONE FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO SYNC?

- Or just get another Ecotech MP10 ( WIRELESS CAPABLE ) and that will do the job? :uhoh3:

Thanks.

They both would have to have the wireless module to comunicate with each other. Is your W lit on the one you have?

wireless capable need the chip to do wirelss.
you will need a MP10 QD wireless and install a wireless chip from ecotech to your wireless capable mp10, do both you will be able to sync.

I have never synchronized mine and the W is lit. There is an LED on the wireless module that lights up the W if it is there. You can by an RF module for the pumps.

I will confirm that if the W is not lit you will not be able to sync / establish a master slave relationship between the two drivers.

There are two versions of the MP10QD - one that sells for around $235 and a second that sells for $285. The former is 'wireless capable' but does not contain the wireless card; the second contains the wireless card. If you bought the less expensive pump, you will need to buy and fit a wireless card in order for it to communicate with another vortech pump.

In fact, the wireless card is the one which has the blue LED lighting up the "W" :-)

If your W isn't lit, you need to buy a new wireless model and the wireless upgrade card for your non-wireless model.

Or just random them both unsynchronized. In random reef crest mode they should do just fine.

I thought so as well. Thank you.

Will probably try this procedure since I am running on Reef Crest mode most of the time. Thank you.
