EcoTech Marine VorTech MP40 Release Information

It could. If the old style shaft is excessively worn the wet side has more of a tendency to 'wander' or spin. This can result in the dry side falling off. It also could be a weak magnet. The washers that we currently supply for 3/4" tanks may provide just the extra amount of clamping force the pump needs to remain secure.

We'll figure out what's wrong.

that washer does help a lot. If you don't have them Ross, you should definitely get them. They made a huge difference in how my pumps operate.

tim

thanks a million...

i really wasnt expecting for you to get the issue so quickly, i am truely impressed with the cust. serv. and the turn a round time. by the way the replacement part seems to be a much better idea with the gasket permenantly in place.

ecotech, you guys are doing a fine job in ironing out the wrinkles, and, if i had to choose a product to be a "lab rat" i am glad i chose your product.....

Tim,

I emailed you about both of my vortechs last week but did not get a response. Wondering if you received it?

Thanks,
Rob

I installed mine on Friday if you can call it that, more like placed it and it is performing flawlessly on my 3/4" acrylic tank - no noise, slipping etc.. very happy with the tremendous flow and the pump's quality. Replaced a Tunze 6060 - no regrets so far.

I'm going to be purchasing one to try out and was wondering if the newest release has fixed many of the initial issues and if there was anything else that was quirky? Looking to place an order Monday.

Also, anyone know the best price to pick one up? They all still seem to be MSRP.

Thanks.

Hi Jay,

Any pump you buy now will have ALL the updates that we've been talking about in the past: newly manufactured wet frame, rigid wet gasket, ceramic drive shaft, etc.

As for vendors, as far as I know $345 is the only price you'll see online. Perhaps some places may offer free shipping but I'm not sure.

-Tim

Just noticed that Champion Lighting has a 10% online purchase sale right now. I am seriously considering buying one tomorrow. Hard to find $35 off.

Can you explain a little more about the wireless control?

There will be a remote control right?

Will the drivers have to be replaced to use the wireless control?

Will the drivers have to be replaced to use the controller when it comes out?

Can't beat that for 35 bucks off. I know MD offers free shipping so maybe they will honor the price. If not, it still is 25 bucks cheaper as shipping is only 10 bucks.

Thanks for the info Tim.

Jason

ReefWaters - If there is a need to upgrade Drivers to use a future wireless controller IceCap will make an accommodation for present owners of VorTech Pumps that want to add those features.
If and when we approach such a point we'll handle this as if we owned first production pumps (which I do).

Andy,

Thank you VERY much. I was just a little worried. :)

By the way, I saw the video from MACNA and I am HIGHLY impressed with the wave action that these pumps are capable of creating when controlled. It is going to be IDEAL for my next set up.

Thanks again for all the help and great customer service.

Ross

Well I joined the bandwagon. I purchased one to see how I like it. I currently have 2 Seio's and a external pump pushing 3600 total. Now this one will almost double it lol.

MD matched the 10 percent off that champion was doing so I picked up for 35 bucks off. Can't beat that!

Hi I've got one of the original production versions of this pump, other than some minor problems initially it has operated flawlessly.

Earlier today I decided to clean the nozzle so I dropped it in a vinegar bath and let it set for a couple of hours. Brought it back in gave it a good scrubbing and rinse and then back onto the the housing. Everything was running fine, I made a few minor adjustments for alignment and that was that. I then crank the motor up (which I haven't done since very early on) and it ran like that for maybe two minutes. At that point it came to a dead stop and I can't seem to resuscitate it. I felt of the motor immediately after it quit and it was cool to the touch. The white "driver" box was mildly warm.

Any ideas of what has happened?

I guess panic set in a little too quick! After my last post I unplugged and replugged everything again---I did this many times before---and poof it came back on. Strange but it is running at the moment.

I was scared that I was going to have to break out the old seio's!

Sounds like you had no power, as in green light on the inverter was off. If it happens again, check to in-line transformer's light.

I'm going to pull my hair out and take both of these vortechs and smash them into one hundred pieces with a hammer. I know it sounds immature but I am getting fed up. Just received my new replacement parts today and one is working fine but the second that was already in operation is vibrating like crazy. Come to find it looks as though the entire drive assembly is oscilating very fast and not staying centered. I checked the screw and nut and that's fine but seems like there is a little movement if you try to angle the driveshaft.
This is really ticking me off because I had plans for a total of 4-6 of these but to have to constantly tinker and toy and replace parts for $700 is ridiculous.
Other forms of circulation are starting to look much more attractive now.
It's very discouraging and aggravating as my main reason for wanting these was speed control/low wattage/able to move/controller. I would really like to stick with these and tough it out but I want this to be a relaxing and enjoyable hobby. I have never had any piece of equipment frustrate me like this.
I'm sorry but you guy should have tested these much longer before release.
I am on the fence and don't know what to do. I mean for the money, phone calls, and emails I don't know if it's worth it if this becomes an ongoing thing.
I really want to believe that the vortech is the next best thing for flow but ................
