so i just got my vortec and flow is ok i suppose, i actually expected more. i've got it in my 120g and it seems like on full power it's really only hitting 1/2 the tank, and it sure is loud! i've tried aligning quite a few times now but it's still VERY loud...in fact i can hear it from one floor above. is there a break-in period or something? has anyone else had this problem?

I have mine in a standard 120g (4x2x2) and it definitely hits the other side of the glass pane. I usually have the setting turned up halfway.

Good Luck

Backup Battery

Backup Battery

I got a Backup Battery for Christmas. :D

Very nice as expected.

I was a little surprised not to see any instructions in the box though. I know its a very simple concept and fairly self explanatory but I would have liked to have been 1000% sure I was hooking it up correctly.

I did make a small mistake in the hook up though. My fault for not thinking. I have been running my two pumps on my AC Jr and DC8 for months with no problems. I run them alternately, 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off. So I just plugged the BB into the wall and connected it to one of the pump drivers. It finally hit me about 24 hours later, that every time the AC Jr cuts power to the pump, the BB kicks in.

So, is there any way around this (until the controller comes out) so that I can still control both pumps?

Also, how bad was it for the battery to have drained it on and off for 24 hours? Did this drastically hurt the run time of the battery?

That's actually how some people are controlling the pumps. When the ACjr "turns it off" the pump doesn't actually turn off because the battery power kicks in at a lower setting FWIU. So in essence you would be putting less wear on the pump driver itself. It may actually be better that way than just being switched on and off by the Neptune controller.

I can see where you're coming from, but Im running them as low as they will go anyway. I really dont think running it like that is good for the battery either.

I just dont see a way to control them without this problem but Im open for suggestions. :)

I don't have any suggestions of course, because I am just parroting what I have been told. I guess in a 50g you would have to run them on low and that should give you a really long run-time on battery backup. As far as BU batteries are concerned, technology has changed so it may not be as bad as it used to be. I know my UPS at my house is cycling a few times per day and it still shows it's strong.

Just wanted to chime in and say I'll be adding TWO (2) more vortechs to my 90g (that's 3 total for you counting at home).

My remaining Seios continued to break and cause me headaches, so I am finally tossing them.

Woooo go flow!

You may be leading the V-Pumps / Gallon challenge.

Please don't turn your tank into a blender, but pics w/b appreciated.

You're not running them at full speed are you???? I have two in my 125 and neither of them are above 50% speed. I've never felt the need for a third in my 125. You're going to have a lot of flow... :)

wow. I have 4 running full blast in my tank, but it's a 1000g. :D I guess you won't be having any pipe fish or sea horses!!!

I will give you a heads up when we start testing at IceCap.
So far ETM has been refining the formula. Release dates remain the same as of now.

Andy, I just want to know if I can still open my garage door, and that of my neighbors, using the new controller. :D

Which is late spring or early summer correct?

Vortech Stalling Problem ....

I have had the pump running for about 2 weeks now and Today I noticed the prop was stopped and the red light was on and the green was blinking, I unplugged the power, plugged it back in and it would stop after about a minute, it runs then stalls and it does this constantly. I checked the alignment, pins, prop and everything is fine, I finally got it to stay on but had to put the pump on it's lowest setting ( barely any flow) WHAT"S WRONG WITH THIS THING???? I'm getting more flow from my MJ 1200 now.

I just had one start chirping occassionally and it is really hot. I am going to get a non-contact thermometer and take some readings.

Ok I am now ready to smash this thing against the wall no responce from eco to my email or to the 2 posts on hear. Now it runs for about 2 seconds and shuts off.

Not sure what the problem is. It's the weekend though so give Tim a chance to respond.

Not to second guess you but you're sure you have the spin spacer on the proper setting for your tank?
