EcoTech Marine VorTech MP40 Release Information

I have checked ,recheck and triple check every possible thing, No bent pin's, spacer set properly and still same problem. It worked great for 2 weeks now this. I emailed them Friday Morning and didn't get a response. It's extremely frustrating when you spend a lot of $ on something and it only works for a couple of weeks.

Tom,
Did you email Tim's gmail address? You may be able to catch him that way if you didn't. Considering your post was at 9:30 on a Friday night and taking into account its a playoff weekend, I'd figure on not hearing from anybody until Monday. But then again, their a pretty dedicated bunch at ETM and IC. I'm sure, as others have mentioned, they will figure out you problem.
You may want to call IC on Monday. Extension 25 is the guy who is the master pump fixer and is able to take care of a lot of problems over the phone. I think his name is Dave but I'm not sure.

Good Luck

Took a while to even notice there was a problem as this is a 31 page thread entitled Release Information. Was not looking for a newly found problem so I had been deliberately skipping this thread.

I just checked and saw no e-mails concerning this. The correct e-mail address is ecotechmarineservice@gmail.com. Send a message to that address and a case file will be opened for you.

I am fairly confident your problem lies with the wet side. Most likely a wet frame, bearing, and shaft issue. Since you are close to us, get the wet frame sent to me by UPS and I should get it Tuesday and back out to you the same day. UPS is 1 day transit time.

The address to send it to is Icecap 9-B South Gold Drive Hamilton NJ 08691. Send the entire pump just in case it is a motor issue which is rare but I have seen happen. I don't want to play a guessing game so include everything to make sure.

Yes RichT it is playoff weekend and I had a bit of time since the Colts were handing it to the Chiefs. Maybe the 2nd game will be better.

Rich I emailed Ecotech about the problem Friday morning. I wasn't to concerned then because when I left it unplugged for 5 min it worked on the lowest speed but got worse by night, today it doesn't matter what I do. I know Ice Cap is one of the best when it comes to customer service I should have called there yesterday afternoon.

I know I read through just about every page looking to see if anyone else had the same problem and maybe it was something I could do to fix it. I'm not sure if that's the email address I sent it to but I'll send you a email to that address. Thanks

I doubt it.....we're talking about the Cowboys who just lost to Detroit. I think Alexander will have a banner day.

I guess not.
Ol'Romo ........what's there to say.

Im assuming if I accidentally removed some of the plastic coating on the wet side magnet, that I should replace it fairly soon right?

It's not a serious situation unless the magnet is heavily rusted. If the magnet was damaged from a screw driver or something you can buy a new one for $15 through sales@ecotechmarine.com. Otherwise I'd just hold off and keep an eye on it, replace it if it becomes very rusted or if you're no longer comfortable with it. Minor discoloration is normal as water will slowly diffuse through the coating. It's only when the magnet starts to severely bubble or flake that you need to bother replacing it.

OK, I gotta ask! How did you accidentally remove some of that plastic coating?

 Well, I was just doing some routine maintenance and checking out the pumps. I noticed that part of the plastic, abrasion reducing, "sticker" (the one originally sent with one of the wet gasket mods to try to fix problems) was pealing a little at one edge. So I tried to peel it off and in the process peeled off some of the plastic coating that came on the magnet originally. Oops.

Okay, I'll keep an eye on it then. But do you think that the coating weighs enough to cause a wobble on the wet side? My pumps are extremely quite when standing next to them. But when I put my ear to the tank, one sounds smooth and consistent with a fluid whoosh sound, the other (the one I messed up the coating on) has a little rattle to it. Its kind of like standing between a Honda 6 cylinder and a Cummins Diesel if that makes sense. Not a bad thing really, I'm just being picky. :D

If you peeled off that sticker (which we no longer use btw), it will take the coating off with it. In this situation I do recommend you buy a new magnet as that magnet will not last long without the coating.
