The aluminum housing is a heat sink. It should get about 50-55 deg C when running at full speed however it is very much dependent on room temperature. The driver will not allow the pump to get so hot as to damage itself or anything around the pump, so don't worry much about it.

Tim, is the motor similar to an external pump motor like an Iwaki or something like that? I ask, because those pumps can get fairly hot to the touch. For some reason I just dont think people are touching them as much as these crazy things hanging on the side of the tank now. Im sure in-tank power heads are getting fairly hot as well, we just dont go digging up rock and coral to feel them very often.

Yes, it's exactly the same as an external pump motor. It just looks a lot nicer People are touching our pump because its right on the side of the glass. We could have made it feel less hot to the touch by making the heat sink larger (same heat and larger area means lower temperature), but then it would have been an eye sore.

All submerisble powerheads, including our closest competitors are dumping every watt of their heat into the aquarium itself. Meaning that heat you feel on your hand is dissipated into the aquarium on any other powerhead. No wonder those pumps heat up your tank. Plenty of our customers report losing several degrees from their aquarium once ridding the tank of their old submersible pumps.

Yes, the serial number is on the back of the unit. By driveshaft and bushing, I assume you mean drive shaft and wet bearing. Correct?

yes but it was easy to if the serial # was on the front of the driver anyway you need to disconnect the driver if you want spare part because the different mod
