I have one on my 90 gallon, along with a couple K's on the other side. One is definitely not enough for a 120 gallon. They dont sell them anymore btw, you buying a used one?
wonder why they discontinued them? I am trying to find 1 good powerhead for a 120g to replace the 1 koralia 4 and then some. What would be able to reach across the tank keeping the entire tank well circulated w/o having to add a bunch of ph.
IMO one will not cut it. If you insist on one you should look into the larger Tunze powerheads, they have a much farther reach than vortechs. Vortechs have a much broader flow.
The mp20 is nothing more then an mp40 with a slower driver. I have one but converted it into a mp40.
Personally I would get a single mp40. Its more flow then two k4. It depends on how much flow you really want and how the rock is arranged. I have run large fish only tanks with nothing more then the return for flow. You don't need a lot but it helps keep the food suspended longer.
Yea they are not cheap. I don't believe that you need a controllable powerhead for a fish only. You don't need them for reefs but they are definitely nice to have.
