Ecotech MP40 or not - frustrating - please help...

You can't even mention tunze and mps in same sentence. There in 2 different classes. I would do 2 mp 60 in your 220.

I would go with the 60's, you can always dial them back. You cannot dial them up past 100% if you need more flow with the 40's.

In my 80 cube I have 2 mp10's and 2 jebao pp8's. One day I'll pony up for 2 mp40's and put the mp10's where my jebao's are.

Yes they are expensive, but their customer service is second to none(and it should be for what they cost)!

One of my pp8's broke and I'm **** out of luck. When my mp10 kept falling off the glass, I made a call and the next day I had a new wet side in the mail. Then my other mp10 had the ceramic coating peeling off the inner shaft on the wet side, again a simple phone call and I had a new wet side the next day. Both times they were overnighted at no cost to me.

I wonder if paying for 4 MP40s would make me feel better than 2 MP60s at the same price... lol

FWIW I have four MP10's on my tank and I would probably trade two 10's for a 40.

If it were me I would start with two 40's, and maybe add a third later, or if you go crazy with SPS or something get a 60 and put one 40 on the back.

Too true!

The real question though, does the 75$ face cream help, or would she better off just rubbing the 75$ on her face. :bounce1:

That's what I say but I have 620 gallons of tanks so I can't really talk lol

I run 2 mp40s in a standard 180 and it's plenty.

I hear lambos require a lot of service and maintenance and costs a lot more to own over the life of it. Maybe not best analogy lol

I do own 3 MP40s and 3 MP10s. Bearings need to be replaced on all 3 MP40 bearings. I've had to replace 1 power supply, 2 wet sides and 1 dry side.

I still like the vortech for functionality and looks though. I'd like to try a gyre but already invested in ecotech.

Ive got a 180 with an MP-60 and MP-40 on each side. After seeing everyone else's response I'm starting to feel a little crazy.... Oh well

Potatohead asked the right question... what corals are you keeping? Soft, 2 MP40s would be fine. SPS not enough probably. If you have the funds, go bigger with the 60s. They are adjustable flow wise so you're essentially building for the future as your reef matures and your able to keep corals that require massive flow. And believe me, 2 MP60s will blow! In a good way🐠🙄

Oh my god. Where are the tang police [emoji61]. Don't you know your tangs are unhappy. By the way that naso looks amazing

Thanks but they are definitely very happy. I seriously never see them fight or be aggressive toward each other whatsoever, but yet again, most of my tangs are 6+ years old
