Ecotech shipping out QD this week?

I just talked to Ecotech and the guy said 1 mp40qd would be fine for now. BRS said always go with 2 powerheads, 1 at each end. I have a couple Koralias so I could put 1 of those at the other end to save some money and then get the WXM module.

Thoughts on that approach?

I'd personally always run one powerhead at either end of the tank. Your tank is large enough that you could probably run your Koralias on the back wall separately, and use two MP40s on either end for the main flow. I see a lot of people here doing that, and I think you'd wind up getting better overall flow in the tank with two MP40s at either end of each other. It's a large investment, but I think it's worth it. You could always hold off on the WXM and simply setup the MP40s like you would normally without a controller. You can probably find a used WXM in the selling forum here, too, like I did.

Yeah, was trying to avoid the extra cash, but it makes sense. I finally have some acro colonies now and want them to do well.

I want to have 1 Koralia for backup always and 4 pumps sounds like overkill :)

So I ordered 2 MP40QD's to be safe. If you use the calculator on their site, it shows 2 MP40's with any SPS and I just got my first 2 Acro colonies.

Even if the Gyre didn't fail, I would have still ordered these as I just like the functionality better and they actually talk to you on the phone :)

any update on drivers shipping??????

Good luck. I've asked BRS three times now, and every single time the arrival date has changed and been pushed back a week or two. The last date was April 11th, and they still don't have them.

I love Ecotech, but this is starting to **** me off.

Sounds like your issue is with BRS, not Ecotech. I ordered mine directly from Ecotech on 2/18, and they quoted 4-8 weeks. They arrived yesterday, inside of 8 weeks. Yes, faster is always better, but seems to me like they delivered as promised.

It's every vendor, not just BRS; I was simply using them as an example.

Ecotech really dropped the ball on QD release!

It's a shame.

What's the point of allowing vendors to do a pre sale and not provide them with their units first.

I pre ordered my upgrades as soon as they became available. Still no word on where my units are. shouldnt these go out in same order they were received.

But some vendors have them, some don't and shipping directly from ecotech?

Why not have a release date? Ship to your vendors and tell them to hold them until release date. You know how other manufactures do with high demand products.

Agree that this has been a bit frustrating. I ordered, and was charged for, the MP60 upgrade driver almost 2 months ago and my vendor still has no firm ETA. But, it is what it is, and once I get mine, and if it quietens my MP60 significantly, all will be well with the world.
