PICTURES

Some local reefers came to see my tank two weekends ago and just send me the pictures they took from my Top down box.

IMG_0003.jpg

My Yellow Humilis is starting to table out but the color is also starting to turn a little greenish. Maybe it's time I reduce my Iron dosing a little to see if the colors can turn
back to bright Yellow

IMG_0005.jpg

This is my neon Green Frogspawn. Used to be 4 head but somehow someone has decided to have the other 2 heads for dinner (suspect my Flame angel here) but luckily decided to leave the other 2 larger heads alone.

IMG_0008.jpg

And my fungia is growing very well and the color has turn into a nice baby blue but has lost it's purple rim around the sides as the flesh is covering the purple base skeleton"¦.

These pictures colors is much closer to what I see in my tank"¦

Hey Ed,

Tank is looking amazing lately. What's it like being a reefer in China? Have any pictures of the town you are in etc? I sometimes get stuck thinking everywhere looks like Florida...haha. :)

Thanks Pacific Reefs - I guess it would be better if I can speak more of the local language and read Chinese..... :mixed:

The city is small - no pictures of city but will try to get some and post. Not been out much in the 4+ years I'm here as most of the time I'm in the hotel.

MORE PICTURES ….

MORE PICTURES "¦.

More pictures taken by my friend"¦

IMG_0006.jpg

My birdnest is getting a slightly deeper pink and hopefully will turn into the blood red I was hoping"¦.

IMG_0009.jpg

Now for some colors"¦. My Zoas Island doing really well. Those guys really glow under actinic LOL

IMG_0011.jpg

My fastest growing acro in the tank"¦. He has branches out quite a few heads and is growing like a weed!! With my dosage of Iron, the green color has "˜pop' up nicely the last few weeks"¦.!!

You can also see my Orange cap at the right side. I notice the orange color will get a little dull when my K+ level is slightly on the low side so now I dose 0.5ml every alternate day to keep my K+ level around 400 "“ 410.

IMG_0014.jpg

My open brain "“ the green has turn to blue under radium bulbs.

IMG_0022.jpg

And my Scoly looking puffy as ever"¦.

These corals look unbelievable. And I mean that. In a nice way. Sorta. :p

Iron, huh? Maybe I should try that too. You guys and your dosings - it's like a mad science experiment here on RC!

Coral pics look awesome! I really love the zoa color combinations together.

Tom

Coming from a guy who pours vodka into his tank

Yeah iron makes the color green pops out more (get a rich green) but too much makes all other corals turn green too IME

Iodine brings out the blue...

and K+ brings out the red!!

And keeping water prism keeps my yellow color happy :D

I've really not dosed anything on a regular basis in my tanks all these years, other than B-Ionic for the smaller tanks and the Calcium Reactor for the 280g.

Vodka dosing is the one thing I've been very consistent with for the past 13 months. Iodine, AA, Potassium, Iron, etc... very hit or miss, or even just on a rare occasion. If I knew what regimen to go with, I'd probably be so inclined to give it a try.

After all, nicely colored robust corals does sound appealing. ;)

melev, have you seen anything interesting when those suppliments on and off? Did you get more blues out of the coral when you dosed potassium, or more colors in general when you dosed Amino Acids?

Well, you can try with low dosage first (weekly) and see how the corals react after a month or so :p

Also, those Blue Zoanthids with the red skirts on the right of this picture, What are they?

And what are you doing for Actinic lighting?

I think those are Japanese deep water zoa - don't ask me for names as I've no clue :rolleye1:

I'm using 2 x ATI Actinic but after yearend, im planning to exchange them out for VHO, which should ahve the colors pop out even more :D

Marc - I would also like to know if the little you dose, do you see any noticeable difference?
