Ed Reef's Shallow Crest Inspired ART

Water parameter udpates…..

Water parameter udpates"¦..

And did my usual weekly 10% WC and check my water params as below:

"¢ Temperature "“ 21 degree C (light off)
"¢ Salinity Gravity "“ 32.0ppt lower than last week)
"¢ pH "“ 8.14 (light off)
"¢ NO3 "“ 0.00 (Salifert Test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ PO4 "“ 0.00 (D&D Test kit "“ down from last week 0.008)
"¢ dKH "“ 7.0 (API test kit "“ down from last week 8)
"¢ dKH "“ 6.5 (Elos test kit "“ down from last week 8)
"¢ Ca "“ 420 (Salifert test kit "“ down from last week 440)
"¢ Mg "“ 1350 (Salifert test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ Mg "“ 1300 (Elos test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ Potassium "“ 380 to 400 range (Kz Test kit "“ lower than last week 400-410)

FINNALY my PO4 is back down to zero again!! Darn temperature took a drop as my heater was not enough to maintain the sudden drop in weather here"¦good thing it's a slow drop over the week so corals not effected. I've now adjusted my heater so all should fine.

As I'm gonna run out of salt mix really soon, I now slowly adjust my salinity to a lower level.

So far all params are doing well and corals seems to do well..

:bounce2:

Sound great Flo...what ballast and bulbs are you planning to run em with?

i´ve ordered two Aqualight ballast.
First i wanted the Coralvue but the wholesaler had none.
the Aqualight seem to be quite the same as the Coralvue.

and two Coralvue ReefLux 250 Watt 12.000k SE

i think that will give my tank a complete new look!^^

THis tank has inspired me so much. My next tank in for sure going going to be a shallow rimless. Great tank Ed

Ed,
Did you ever find out what was happening to your corals?
We are having a similar issue...

Well the bite marks still look like AEFW but all the dips shows nothing so far. After 3 series of dips, I stop dipping as my corals was super stress and now colors and PE are slowly coming back back so I'm not sure if I got rid of my problem??

However, something is still chewing on my birdnest as I got more tips bitten off... :fun5:

Thanks Clue - glad you enjoy the ride so far..... must be quite a read if you go all the way back to beginning of the build :spin1:

More pictures taken by my friend"¦

My birdnest is getting a slightly deeper pink and hopefully will turn into the blood red I was hoping"¦.

Now for some colors"¦. My Zoas Island doing really well. Those guys really glow under actinic LOL

IMG_0011.jpg

My fastest growing acro in the tank"¦. He has branches out quite a few heads and is growing like a weed!! With my dosage of Iron, the green color has "˜pop' up nicely the last few weeks"¦.!!

You can also see my Orange cap at the right side. I notice the orange color will get a little dull when my K+ level is slightly on the low side so now I dose 0.5ml every alternate day to keep my K+ level around 400 "“ 410.

My open brain "“ the green has turn to blue under radium bulbs.

And my Scoly looking puffy as ever"¦.

the colors are amazing!!

Some close-ups …..

Some close-ups "¦..

Took out my micro lens to try my hands at some micro shots"¦.

The 2 above are the only one, which came out decent"¦

The rest somehow came out looking blur… for the life of me, I cannot take SPS PE or any Zoa. I think I need to use my tripod next time or maybe switching off the pumps helps too.

As you can see I’m not good at this close-up thingy so figure some more practice will do me good :wildone:

Sorry for the bad pictures guys but I figures some bad pictures is better than no pictures…

Promise the next time around will be better pictures (I hope)

:D

Love the pictures...
for the close ups for sure use that tripod, even use a remote shutter or cable release, if you don't have them I would use the camera built in timer.
One other very imprtant thing especially on zoo polyps is to shoot perpendicular to the glass, a slight angle will cause distortion.
