Ed's 150 Gallon Build

I'm slowly working my way back into reefing after a 8 year hiatus from selling my 300 gallon reef tank. One thing is for sure WOW has the hobby changed !!! So i started my research all over again to see what it was going to take. I decided this time to buy a stand and canopy instead of building one as i did last time. (Love working with wood but with 2 kids under 2 a dog and a wife don't really have the available free time to commit to building) so onto craigslist i went once i decided on a size. After a few weeks of looking i stumbled across a reef central member selling their tank/stand/canopy/sump. Perfect for what i needed as i wanted to add my own equipment as i went. Unfortunately due to a move into a new house any more addition to my tank had to be put on hold. Finally we are moved in now and i can start putting my tank together piece by piece. I will try to include as many pics as possible as the process goes and look forward to any input from fellow members with advice and tips. Thanks

I have the same lights. U actually got 4 over that tank being its only 4' long

yes, I went with 4 units to avoid shadowing at the edges because of the depth of the tank. my lights are stock, I have not removed the lenses or anything. The lights are mounted in the canopy about 6" above the water.

i bought 3 i have 2 mounted and will see how that does and will add the other one if needed. Mine haven't been modded but i think the only mod i am going to do is to be able to dim them on the apex

I think the 2 units will be plenty in the beginning but depending on what type of coral you want to grow you may end up adding the 3 unit 6 months from now. I was glad I went with the 4 units as I have no shadowing at all except where I intentionally made a lowlight space with the rockwork.

Yeah that's what i figured i would end up doing and i hadn't decided if i was gonna add the 3rd one or possibly supplement with T5

Here it is up and running. Got it filled and running the other day and dosed a little ammonia to get the cycle going. Now to sit back and wait for nature to run its course ;)

I'e been trying to come up with a stock list of fish for once the tank is ready and here is what i came up with. Let me know what you guys think and also if i may be missing anything that might be a good replacement or addition.

Purple tang
Regal tang (Hippo)
Bartlett's anthias
Leopard wrasse
Exquisite Fairy wrasse
McCosker's flasher wrasse
6 line wrasse
Mated pair of clowns (haven't decided what type yet)

Ive been wanting a Leopard Wrasse for a while, just haven't talked myself into it yet. everyone seems happy, healthy and peaceful right now so I hate to change anything.

Yeah ive always like the leopard wrasse and had one in my last tank and that was the very first fish i added to my want list for this tank.
